FATBOY SLIM has confirmed details of his new album ?PALOOKAVILLE?.
The record is set for release on October 4, four years after his last effort ?Halfway Between The Gutter And The Stars'.
A single, ?Slash Dot Dash?, is out on September 13.
Guests confirmed for the record include Damon Albarn, Lateef from Blackalicious, legendary bassist Bootsy Collins, Justin Robertson and Brighton band Johnny Quality.
The tracklisting runs:
?Don?t Let The Man?
?Slash Dot Dash?
?Wonderful Night? (featuring Lateef)
?Long Way From Home? (featuring Johnny Quality)
?Put It Back Together? (featuring Damon Albarn)
?Masochistic Baby?
?Push And Shove? (featuring Justin Robertson)
?North West Three?
?The Journey? (featuring Lateef)
?Jingo?
?Song For Chesh?
?The Joker? (featuring Bootsy Collins)
Speaking previously about the record, Cook said: "It's quite different from the last few because music has moved on a lot in the last few years. Basically, I'm just experimenting with different sounds and trying not to sound like classic Fatboy.
"Damon Albarn sings on one track, Bootsy Collins sings on another and Lateef from Blackalicious has done some great stuff.
"The last album had a lot of house on it and this is getting back to my hip-hop roots more. Basically, I'm just not turned on by house music much at the moment. It's going through a fallow period and I think we need another Daft Punk."

I really enjoyed Fatboy's Better Living... and You've Come A Long Way. Every now and again I pull them off the shelf and have a listen. It's good, throbbing beats make for fun 'going out' music. I remember when I first got ahold of Halfway Between the Gutter and Stars and feeling disappointed... but the record was a grower, especially Song for Shelter and Sunset. Still haven't been able to feel Love Life though.
Maybe there's a Chemical Brothers remix for Fatboy in the future?

I'm not sure why but I really like HWBTGATS than YCALWB. I just think there are tracks that appeal to my funky, beats-heavy taste in music. I really like Song for Shelter because some artists try and do something different for the last track and the effect is hit and miss, but like TPPR it really works. I eagerly wait to see if the Chems will do a remix! 8)

"Don't let the man get you down" was the full title of the last fatboy song i heard. Don't know if it's the same song but it was bloody good so i hope it is. It was totally different to his previous house and big beat music but still great and bleeding groovy! Sounds like the new album should be good. I've always been a fa of Norman Cook.

It's mental, quite heavy for a Chems track really. Good stuff, it's def worth checking out.
I've only heard it all the way through once, but I do think it is one of their best remixes, heavy, well-structured and more intense than the original. Recently I've been trying to get it on CD, fingers crossed I'll get it soon! :D

song for shelter is a really good mix, haven't heard his come with us remix what is it like?
I think this is the only remix where I can describe the beat as 'crunchy'. It's typical Fatboy, good mix, heavy beats, nice reworking of the sample and really funky. Fatboy Slim was asked to remix Star Guitar, but he declined feeling that it couldn't get any better. Cool.
You can listen to the mix here (yes, hosted on the Chems own site):

thought the 1st album was cool but since then a little throw away - he's a talented bloke. look at his career....housemartins, beats international, freak power.....no denying the mans talent, just wish he'd do away with the cheesey samples and the like.....
lots of guests on this album - I'm hoping it's brought the best out in him, I'd actually quite like to see him make a wicked album just to annoy all the journalists/purists....
good luck to him

"...First off, the brand new single from Fatboy Slim,
"The Joker" will be available for download on Apple
iTunes beginning next week. That's right - ages
before the album you can own this brand new track. We
at Astralwerks are very excited about the ability to
get music to you so quickly. If you haven't heard the
free spirited and infectious cover of the Steve Miller
Band classic yet, be prepared for a delicious slice
of classic Fatboy Slim fun. The rest of
'Palookaville' is an extraordinary journey - we truly
cannot wait for everyone to hear Norman's best work
ever. We're calling it a "chill-up" record round here
- chemically engineered in a high energy environment
in Brighton, England to bring joy and euphoria to all
that hear it. Out October 5th..." :D

You can get an exclusive play of Slash Dot Dash (tomorrow) if you sign up to the mailing list at the above site. SDD will also be played at around 19:10 of tonight's Zane Lowe show on Radio 1. The Joker is now available for download on iTunes (only US I think). Link:http://phobos.apple....ItemId=19034954 :D
I have made my own Palookaville wallpaper, but it has nothing related to the recently revealed artwork, as I made it a few days ago. If anyone's interested in hosting it for me it would be gratefully appreciated (although it's not a masterpiece).
