Daft Punk better live act than the Chems?

when i saw them at brixton in 2004 they didn't mix there songs into one another, which did annoy me slightly, but there are examples of entire sets mixed into each other on the live section of the ORBITAL site, so they can and have done so in the past,
visually though i think Orbital are up there. even though they don't have the fluidity and excellence of the chems, when seeing them live you get a sence of there sheer magnificance. IMO anyway

no matter what, chems will always have a slight edge over any band.
I dunno about that. I love the Chems, their music, and their live show deeply, but just because they're the Chems doesn't automatically put them at the top of the list.
Sooner or later someone (electronic or otherwise) will top them and they'll probably respond by upping the ante even further. Until then, sure .....

Chemical brothers are on the top that is why they are world famous and they are who they are. Everything they do musically and live shows wise is the gold standard....others just immitate.

i agree with that
but i also agree with this:

And i think that electronic act that just topped them, is Daft Punk. They have gone beyond that "gold standard" and did it in their own unique way. But no worries, like Darkstar said the Chemical Brothers will probably respond by upping the ante even further.
And before you Daft Punk bashers start flaming again, you must look at the Coachella forum and see how Daft Punk has blown these people away. There must be at least 20-30 threads started, stating how great Daft Punk was, or it was the best show in Coachella history.
But the best thing about this Daft Punk performance at Coachella is, they have shown these stuburn "indie rock" people, that electronic music can be fun and even turning many of them into electronic fans. Its too bad Daft Punk has only choose just one U.S. date for touring, otherwise, they might have single handedly put the whole electronic world back on top in the U.S. once again. Well maybe not on top but, getting the attention that it diserves.
That being said, my opinion on the matter really shouldnt even count, since ive seen neither of them live. :P

yeah man, because the number of people who like something ALWAYS determines the quality... lowest common denominator is the phrase that comes to mind.
Anyway, here's a review of Coachella, from our local independent weekly, and I think it mentions everything that was worth mentioning this year.

Every year, it's something new. There's always gotta be the one show that steals the fest.
This year it was Daft Punk (cuz the Chems weren't there, hehe) Fine, fair enough.
While Daft Punk may have been amazing live - I fail to see how their one show that they've had years and years to plan can out-do what the Chems have been doing successfully and consistantly for over 10 years now. I'm sure maybe Tom and Ed are always willing to learn what makes their audiences tick, they are willing to give the people what they want. Whether or not they will take a leaf out of Daft Punk's book remains to be seen. Frankly I like them just the way they are. If they change the format of their approach, that would be a bit weird but well - we'll just have to wait and see what they have up their sleeves. Whatever the Chems do, it will be good I have no reservations about that.
Opinions. To each their own.

As said multiple times, and from what I've seen on video, Daft Punk rocked the joint. I haven't seen anything that topped Chems Coachella 2005 yet, but I wasn't there this year, so who knows......
I mean, really I'm just postwhoring while drunk at 6AM right now. I wish both groups welll. Cheers boss!
