To be honest, I was half expecting a letter bomb, but I was happily greeted by a compact disk and a tracklisting.

I've been at work and down gym so I haven't been able to give it my full attention, but i'm listening to it now and i'm very happy. Shame the sound quality isn't great, but that's not a complaint, nothing but gratitude from my end.

Are you crazy, listen to it at the gym. My god that shit's like the best work out music on earth. I put those on headphones and really have a field day. it's completely energetic. best of all it's non-stop and slowly gets faster for the most part (since the first few tracks are around 110 with brb , then 130s like out of control and under the influence and finally 140s with hoops and the revamped version of setting sun)

When I get an I-pod then yes, but I have a CD player and that's too bulky when you're running on the tread mill.

the sound quality is good, just better when you play it really loud from the speakers.

May I ask how you copied it to CD-R? was it disk to disk or what? The sound quality sounds like it's around 128K, a little tinny.

ah, that'd explain it. Whatever you used to rip it to your pc, the sound quality was low. No worries. Disc to disc copying just duplicates the original disc.

Yeah, but the PC doesn't affect the quality at all unless you specify encoding at a lower rate. So if the original recording was crap, there's no getting around it.

but if you're ripping it onto PC it's not going to be exactly duplicated when you copy it from PC to CD as it would be when doing CD to CD.

If you rip it with a lossless codec, it's identical.

Do you have two CD drives? If so you can copy from CD to CD that way. If not I think there's a way where it copies the contents of the CD to a temp folder, then copies it to CD.

I used my flatmates laptop, which has only one drive so ripped to windows media and then on to cd.that is why there is gaps between the songs, which aren't on the original.

Could explain the loss of quality? I dunno, just wondering? On my PC, WM always wants to auto-compress my audio when I put it on CD even after setting everything to hi-quality. I try to avoid it.

Windows Media Audio is a lossy compression format. It's inferior to such lossy compression formats as Ogg Vorbis and AAC, and especially inferior to lossless formats
