Floyd and Maiden - live in india!

I see Waters this weekend in bby, and Maiden plays blr on 17th of March! FINALLY! After all these yrs of wait - infact I had given up!

The best part - my friend's band (one of the biggest bands in india) opens for Maiden - hence I'm gonna be his basstech and gonna be backstage - I'm gonna faint the moment I get to say hi to Arry, Bruce or any of those gods! I can't stop jumping at work, since I got the news this morning!

How I wish you were here.

anType - posted these before -check out the pics - these are from 02 gig here in blr - http://www.parikrama.com/waters

Man, oh man. How cool to be part of the behind the scenes of a gig. That would be hard work, but it would rock hard - ultimate dream job.

You'll have to tell us how it went!!

I'm not really plannin to work behind the scenes really - just an opportunist bastard - will consider myself lucky if get to meet the maiden boys - they'r one of my fav bands of all time, n hence gonna hangout backstage/ onstage with the opening act.

Obviously I'm gonna rush right infront to watch Iron Maiden.

I'm really hopin this is gonna be a blast - less than 3 days to Floyd in bby! Yippieee!! Thx for the wishes both of you!

I'd heard from a reliable source that Roger Waters was coming to Winnipeg soon but it was officially confirmed today that he's coming at the end of June. I'm SO looking forward to it.

You'll have to do a full concert review!

You'll have to give us all the gritty sordid details of a life backstage!!

And on my god!

On May 15: Irvine - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre is where Roger Waters is going to stop. It's TBA but still... Tix go on sale March 18. The venue is literally less than 15 minutes away from my house. I could practially hike there over the hills from my front porch! I'd love to try and score tickets for that. He's also going to play the Hollywood Bowl which would be a sweet place to see a show.

Darky and Whirly - I've said this a million times already I think but I'll say it again - DON'T miss watching Roger Waters live if you get a chance. The tickets are usually expensive for his gigs, but once you're at the show you'll know why.

I paid 3k (that's $70 in India and fuckin expensive - local bands sell tickets at 100 bucks) back in 2002 - the only consolation was, it was in my town - this time I'm paying the same + another 8k for travel to bby- so if you've ever been a Floyd fan - don't miss it for your life. It's a technicolour psychedelic dream like no other "rock" show. Whirly - u know about his sound, I can't forget the experience back in 02 on his In The Flesh tour - there were 45k people turning up!! They announced at 7.45pm that Mr Waters and his band will be on stage in 15 mins (no opening acts - once u see him, u'll know why) - and bang at 8 - he walks up on stage, climbs those stairs u see in the first few pics singing In the flesh pt 2 - n I remember my best friend and I just freezing right there, we couldn?t believe we were actually seeing this happen live, and then I somehow get some wits together and a few words outta my mouth - bro let's light a joint - n right that fuckin moment Waters pointed RIGHT AT US and screamed - and there's one smokin a joint!! - the riff raff we were we just fuckin melted right there. You can make out from my other best friend's small writeup on that site how fucked we were in the purest form of bliss.

This tour he's playing Dark Side back to back and another 2 hrs of "other" floyd. The visuals and the sound effects are NUTS. He used 4 different projectors to build the background visuals, and everything was technology at it's psychedelic best. A friend in Cali recently caught the same Dark Side tour, and Waters flew a pig with Bush's face, with impeach the pig written on it, when they did Pigs. :D

I'm surprised at the Maiden ticket costs - 1500 bucks here is nothing for something as big as Maiden - considering they've been wanting to play here for years but never been able to get it together. But then I think they'r looking at pulling in a bigger crowd than Waters, and I'm sure they will! Will post pics if I can really get backstage - gotta keep my karma cleaner!

Careful of your shoulder, man! Have fun at the rave - indoor raves can be a blast (literally, depending on how badly the bass shakes the building)!

review:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well it started off that i had to go early to get my ticket and it starts and nine so i wanted to definitly make sure that i got mine so i head down there and get there at 7:45 and theres allready a crown WTF!!! so we end up waiting untill 8:30 and we are right in the front and then one of the event organizers says every one with tickets on one side and every one with out on the other. since i didint have a ticket i move to the other side and thankfully get a place near the front but now im totaly crushed! like i couldent get out of the line even if i wanted too. then they say people with tickets get to go in first but they have to search every one before then get in so after about 2 hours waiting in the periodicly raining street i FINALY get in.

so im in but i cant find my freinds so i just start to dance and its kinda hard since i only have one arm but what ever im have a good time, eventully i find my freinds and they give me my cap but theres only 1 and i paid 10 dollars so im pritty choked but thers not point arguing now because im going to have a fun time!, so i go dancing for the next couple hours and thats good and all but im not feeling the e so i get bummed out and my shoulder starts to ache so i just go home after that.

in conclusion i learnt a couple things, first ALLWAYS get your ticket before hand and drugs too never leave that to some one else unless there completlt trustworth witch one of those people was not, also defintily try not to get into a bad mindset like i did later one and you will still have a good time.

Too bad things didn't work out for you, dude. I agree about getting all the supplies ahead of time. Leaving things till the last minute is often a recipe for disaster.

Ah man, sorry to hear you didn't have the greatest of times. I'm sure a lot of it was your shoulder, too. Not being able to find your friends in a situation like that can be a bummer as well. Sometimes the party favors magnify a downer scenario - but hey, lesson learned. Next time you'll be better prepared and hopefully you won't have to dance and worry about dislocating any limbs!

just got back into blore, haven't slept a wink the last two nights - will post later - the gig was beautiful - made friends with sparky and gotta know a lot of trivia about the current lights n sounds setups- the guy at the sound/ lights controls doin all those nuts pyrotechnics and stage lights was sparky, hehe - awesome guy.

really have no words right now to describe the experience - it was a fantastic gig. i never thought i could watch floyd totally unebriated n i did yesterday - didnt have a sip of water, didn't move once except when he announced the break and i got my opportunity to run right ahead.

don't wanna sound negative but also, it was just bout 50% of 2002 in terms of production n sound and Waters yesterday seemed in a very weird funny mood - he was definitely upset over something.

the turnout was very low compared to blore, n the impact, but i really won't/ can't compare the two shows - last night was equally magic - i really need to take a shower n crash and realise all this happened.

here's a funny piece for u folks - there was no sound guy yesterday - eat this - NO sound guy, ZERO manual sound intervention - that's called perfection. Sparky just triggerred a few effects himself but everything the whole sound was predone - people would have seen the technology at the gig - and this was honestly not half as big as he did last time - tho i had a feeling he'd be fuckin 'round and experimenting n being moody yesterday since he's already played here once and most real fans had already seen him once, so he didn't have to be too prim this time 'round to blow our brains.

and yes - 99% of the visuals are new - except for the barrett era rolling in the fields footage, and he used smaller 3 projectors this time - not 4 - the screen and stage were half the size of the first gig - am sorry keep comparing - it WAS fuckin magic, period. the fuckin explosions on stage were awesome - was in the front for the second half, and the last explosion where three went off together, i felt the fuckin heat in the crowd - i can't imagine what it would have done on stage.

just wish the crowd was as good as 02 - this was the shittiest crowd (the median) - even in the 3k enclosure this time 'round.

another piece of info - the same guy does lights for gilmour too now - infact he's been doin some theatrical productions with gilmour recently he said.

and andy fairweather low and snowy white were very tame yesterday night - everyone was wild the last time - also no dogs, no playin cards on stage, but there was so much more then again. fuck i could keep typin for hours and not make any sense right now.

machine shutdown.

oh yeah - he's on a bush RAPING rampage - he just tore him apart throughout the show.
