Hey Everyone.
This sounds like a cool idea.

Since it has been discussed that Pourquoi will be accepted as a choice, I would like to mess around with that song for this project.

General Thoughts:

I think remixing every song just like 'Flip The Switch' is cool but given that some of the songs are more or less remixable than others in their album versions I think it should be considered that multiple decent mixes of any songs could be accepted. I'd rather hear a couple great remixes of one tune than some crap remixes of the other ones just to be one for one track accurate. I think it also may deter someone from participating if their favorite choice is already taken.

As far as naming this project goes: so far 'Furtherremixed' has my vote as a pretty cool choice and here's why. It's simple, to the point and 100% descriptive as to what it is. But also, if you google 'Furtherremixed', so far in the world the only results are about THIS project, which will make 'further' tracking of it's progress on the internet an easy task. :) One word and you have all your specifically tailored results.

Whitenoise's artwork is cool and so far i prefer it in it's minimal-bubbles form. Some bubbles work, but the second Bubble one is seeming a bit busier than it needs to be.

If you want to check out some other remixes i've done you can hear / download my stuff from my website or soundcloud.

Welcome Rhythm Scholar! your previous remixes are really cool! especially the weapons of schoice remixes.

@everyone: cool artwork people! I'm quite impressed. what about including a digital booklet with cover art with this release? :) I'm quite skilled in Indesign so i can put it together in a nice layout.

my remix of swoon is nearly finished. it is nearly 9 mins long. maybe i shorten it a little..

No! Length is gooooood.
(Unless it's really repetitive or something...)

Thanks, Eis-T.

I think a digital booklet would be great. Perhaps it could contain some track notes from the remixers with info as to 'why' a particular song was selected, inspiration or whatever they'd like to say.

As far as track length, I think you said it yourself. 2 mins, 9 mins, whatever it takes. It's really about the quality, yes? :)

@everyone: I was going to put the word out about this project to some of my remix buddies but I was wondering if we could 'further' discuss the possibility of multiple remixes of the same song, if it works out that way. I'd hate for anyone decent to exclude themselves based on which track choices remain. If we stick to only ONE remix per song, then the pickins are already slim.

My opinion, as I have stated before, is that a few decent remixes of some songs are just as good as decent to crappy mixes of all the songs. Plus, then no one would be hindered by track selection no matter how late they join the project.

Please let me know what the thoughts are on that, as it will semi-determine how much I push to try to get other people to join considering the track selection will just get more and more limited.

I have started messing around with Pourquoi and already I've done a few things that I'm happy with. There's no reason I can see that I won't be finishing a mix of that song for this project. :)

I'm looking forward to the mixes!

Please let me know your thoughts on more then one mix per tune.

I think you have a good point Rhythm Scholar. some tracks will be very hard to remix. The reason i chose for one remix per tune is because you can keep the same tracklist as the original album. Like Simian's Sample & Hold and Boys Noize's Oi Oi Oi Remixed.
On the other hand: The aim is to make a quality compilation with good remixes of the brother's recent work. IMO it doesn't matter if a track appears twice on a compilation as long as it is a different track with a different feel. I also rather see a track missing than a crappy remix. what matters is the quality, not the quantity.
please spread the word, Rhythm Scholar! more entry's means more fun!

oh, and do i hear the dblue glitch plugin in your remixes? i really love that effect tool :P

in general: i've tried to contact the original participants of the "Flip the Switch" project but most of them are hard to find on the internet. i've contacted dunproofin, Idiotech and JoolsMF. I'n not on twitter or myspace so i couldn't contact some of the others..

happy remixing everybody!

Who do you want to contact? I'm in contact with all of those except FakeID/Elektrobank (now one half of Geek Chic Soundsystem - you might track Ian down that way), Will Rokier, Ryan D and Fujikato. Josh cry on your console - not directly but you could try Pirate Soundsystem cos again that is half him.

I shared it on my FB so at least 5-6 of those probably will see it. McS would have via GYBO.

Also might be able to track down at least one of those who ran the original...if you need to contact him/them. Dan's around here somewhere, and I assume still in contact with Will (I forget who else).

Sounds good to me. We should use some of the original artwork from the Further booklet and put our own spin on it. If someone would like to give me a pic to work on, I can remix it creatively!

My right side of my brain could use some waking up anyway.

I like this idea - we should have artwork to go along with each one of the remixes. Krisper's art work would go perfectly with the Polymath Remix.

My EV mix is coming along nicely. It's far from completion, but my idea is working well. No longer tentative here.

i edited the first page. everything is up to date.

@fingertrouble: i would like them to know we started this project and that they are most welcome to join if they want to. I also think we can learn from their experience in the previous project.

i don't know for sure but i can maybe arrange a mastering guy to do the final finishing of the album. i will confirm this as soon as i know more details.

I'm not quite happy with my own remix, the buildup is good but the climax isn't good enough. the idea and the arrangement are good but it needs more tweaking to get it right. I ended up using a LOT of Lush samples :) it's more lush than swoon at the moment but that isn't a problem because the melodies are nearly identical :D

@Whitenoise What did you use to get your screenshots for your wallpapers?

I have been trying to get some other screenshots from Another World, but the program I am using that can step through frame by frame takes terrible screenshots.

As far as i can see it they're all from the Further iTunes-LP and then being photoshoped (or similar - paint.net, gimp etc)

Pumisher's right - I use the art that came with the iTunes LP and Paint Shop Pro 9 to edit them.

Eis-T,

Thanks for updating the first post to reflect the changes that have been discussed. I just hope that my name gets spelled correctly by the time this project is finished. :) (My fault for picking a difficult name)

You asked about the Glitch plug-in and the answer is NO!, I have never used any sort of plug-in to achieve my stutter and glitch effect sounds. I manually place the tiny pieces of audio until they sound 'right. Here is a screenshot of about 15 seconds of my 'Edits Of Mass Destruction' remix of Fatboy Slim:

My Pourquoi mix is sounding good. I can't wait to hear the others. :)

I got bored, so I redid my image, started with it much bigger, isolated each line with better edges. So what do you think, one color, or the rainbow?

Assuming the first post is correct I see that Snow and Horse Power are still available. I wouldn't mind doing either of those. Probably snow since it will be easier to sample

champiness: I can't help myself. it's a sickness. :)

androidgeoff, yes the first post is correct, and... if you read it carefully you'll see that EVERY track is still available! It's ok to have more than one remix of any of the songs so feel free to pick whichever track you want! Yay! :)

This is the progress Ive made today. You should be proud I didnt just do a dubstep remix since the original song is at 140 bpm

first draft

The first 3 minutes are what is important since I just have the last 2 laid out to fill in later.
Im sleepy
