quite an intresting subject!!

i think EBW estimate is a little shy, i think chemed'up up is nearer the mark.

here in the UK, to have a headline dj set of the calibre of master at work or erick morillo you are talking about spending out a minumum of 10,000 (thats uk money) just to play a set, thats excluding hotels, transport and all the other luxuaries that go with touring. and that is just for a club night. lets not forget these are just people that play other peoples music. they are not that high up in the food chain.

when we talk about a band, who provide a live set, who bring a crew that they need for playing live (roadies, lighting engineers, sound engineers the vegiable vision crew, etc), a band who headline an event, and you can sell an event off the back of their name, a band who have a logo that can be easily recognised to help sell your event. then you have to spend the money to make sure the party is successful.

whilst i'm writing this i can't help and think of creamfields, cos the brothers are headlining it!! i know what morillo expects cash wise just to turn up at an event, but he and his gang are just filling one tent at creamfields. where as the chems name is being used the sell the whole creamfields event. i can't help but feel the chems are offered somewhere round the (uk)50,000 to preform (a sneaker estimate baised on nothing but speculation!!).

also when you look at what other bands expect to be paid for their perfomances, then my estimate looks quite conservative!!! the darkness wanted a million to perform at glastonbury, although they didn't get the gig. not cos they were considered not worth it, but the money could have been better spent on charity!!! oasis festival performance is worth 500,000, i think that was rumored for reading performances.

as fans i think we are better off not knowing the finacial side of stuff!!! and to go back to the original post by ginchi i think you would be very lucky to get them in july when you consider they are already confirmed to the oxegen, t in the park and benicassim festivals in july.

All I am saying is, I doubt the chem's get paid as much as a HUGE legand as Cash was. and why would you get paid LESS if you were MORE popular. Learn a little more economics, as demand increases, price increases.

but there is no simple formula to who much an artist gets paid. in the uk dance music is big, the chems are at the top level of dance music. if you put a show on with the chemical brothers headlining then you sell that event of the back of one artist. that has to be worth a lot of money.

i dont see where the comparision is between the chemical brothers and jonny cash. different worlds, different audiences.
