Oh man, I just bought my Winnipeg Folk Festival ticket and camping pass and I can't wait! Only 35 more days!!!!

Excerpted from Wikipedia:

Begun in 1974 as a one time event to celebrate Winnipeg's centennial, it has grown into a major fesitval attracting crowds of up to 55,000 performers, volunteers and guests.

There is a large variety of music to be experienced each year, including bluegrass, celtic, world beat, folk, blues, children's entertainment, and much more. Vendors come from all over Canada and the United States to join in the fun, selling everything from one of a kind, hand-made jewelry to all natural soaps, to finely crafted pottery. Each evening all other stages shut down for the performances at Main Stage.

Another big attraction who those who attend the Winnipeg Folk Fest faithfully is the camping in Bird's Hill Provincial Park. In Festival Camping those with the proper wristbands are allowed into a huge party in the woods. The sounds of drums throughout the campgrounds rise throughout the night and climax at the break of dawn but they can always be heard. For those who prefer to sleep at night but would still like to camp the option to camp in a Quiet Camping area is also available. However for those who can forgo sleep for four days of unmitigated fun, the Festival campgrounds is highly recommended. A friendly, peaceful atmosphere pervades the campgrounds and people pass each other with a smile and a congenial attitude. And why want to sleep when there is often an amazing display of the Northern Lights dancing in the sky?

--------

Looked at the food vendor list and stalls from many of my favourite restaurants are going to be there. I'm getting super stoked.

I can't wait.

Going to Glade Festival, of course! :D

Here's the lineup so far...

Someone is trying to start a Chems rumour on the forum at the moment but I'm pouring cold water on it. Much as I'd like it to happen (obviously), I don't want to build my hopes up too much...

14-16 July.

And some people are trying to start a rumour that the Chems will play a DJ set there on the strength that they're playing Fabric a week earlier.

Would be mega-cool if it happened but I don't think it will.

Ok heres a few pictures of the weekend.

Overall it was fantastic!

The ferry across from Portsmouth, a view of gunwharf Spinaker now, near to my home. this is where the drinking began.

Friday evening headliners, the prodigy, 'wake the fuck up' and 'voodoo peope' real stand out tracks of this wild performance which sent the familes and kids to the back of the 60,000 strong crowd!

The lovely looking lottie, who also happens to be a good dj.

A true legend, Justin Robertson rocking the strongbow tent! Highlight was of course EBW7 in jaw dropping acid house set.

Myself and Bobby in the strongbow tent during Justin (yes Ive stupidly had my head shaved)! He was also with Kate Moss, who looked incredible in the flesh. Was quite strange seeing here dance 2 meters away, couldnt get a photo as cameras were not allowed near her and she also had some bid guards and a crew of bitches with her. She walked onto the stage and had a word with Justin before leaving.

Krafty Kuts, who played a fine slection.

At this point my camera died, however other highlights included, meeting Infadels again and them knowing me, they played a great set. Chris Martin singing a Peter Crouch song he recentally made up during Coldplay. Freeform Five performing 'No More Conversations' and 'Muscle Car' live. Erol Alkan closeing the strongbow tent with a set that included OOC and higher state.

Not long until Summercase now!

Daft Punk's manager confirmed in an interview that they will play in Portugal and that they have been contacted by more festivals to play... I guess there's at least "Rock en Seine" (I hope so) which has to be one of the biggest french festival...
