yes sneaker!!!! thats a mighty fine setup you have there....im looking to buy some cd turntables to add to my vestax's.....any suggestions?

yes i love my setup!! my studio is a better spec than most clubs. it has cost me a shit load but i have shopped around to get some bargings.

to the geezer who wants vinyl. buy a second hand pair of technics sl 1200/1210's, mine are second hand. the technics have been round for a few decades and are bulletproof!! they are a really good investment and are hold there value. although a lot of people are ditching there decks for cd turntables these days, so they may not hold there value as much as they used to.

as for cd decks here are my opinions. only buy decks that emulate vinyl i.e. you can scratch on them. most are really easy to get to grips with. the older generation cd turntables are harder to play on.

the numark cdx are ment to be great to play on. and are cheaper than the premier brands. i haven't played on them but every review i have read on them is glowing. they only thing i dont like is the layout. all the controls are squeezed in one end and it looks a bit crammed. i don't like the quality of numark products. i used to have a numark mixer and i wasn't that impressed the faders were poor.

the technics sl-dz1200 look the shit!! but the performance is shit. i have played on one and found it quite hard to use, like playing on a belt drive deck. it just does not perform good enough to justify the price.

the denon series is ment to be pretty good although the learning curve is a bit harder. they have a lot of features which make them less user friendly. a lot of people like the idea of a spinning platter but i think it is a bit gimmicky. unless you are a scratch dj you really do not need a spinning platter

the pioneer's are the industry standard. they were the first vinyl emulating cd decks on the market and no one really has made a better deck. the cdj 1000 is a monster of a deck but has a monster price tag. the cdj 800 is also a very good deck and still got a lot of features for the money. a lot of my friends own the 800. probably cos it the best value to performance ratio. you can litrally churn a mix out on these decks within a couple of minutes finding the basic operation of the deck (as long as you know how to mix tunes in the first place!!).

sneaker recormends pioneer cdj 800 as the best all round deck on the market

i think im rite in saying theres a new version of that aswell actuali, cdj1000x or summin'

i don't know about that. pioneer are quite hush hush about there new stuff. pioneer normally release/announce new stuff around aug/sep so a new turntable is a long way of i think.

your not getting confussed with the dvd equivelent of the cdj, the dvj - x1??? oh my god that is a mad beast i got to play on one for 5 minutes and loved it to bits.

well the chems have one in the dj booth with them for the last couple of years!! me personally i don't need one cos they are really for looping up a track on vinyl. cdjs already have looping facilities. but i have noiced a lot of top jocks using them. josh wink, tom stephan and erick morillo.

here are review on them

Except mine :-//

Doesn't stop me mixing though, all you really need is pitch-shiftable CD decks and a crossfader! :P

X-D maybe i should just try to X-D

i know, braun is known for shavers but they used to build highest-quality turntables and radios in very limited editions in earlier times
