i was wondering if anybody has any interesting mixes, i.e one song to the next or the algamation of two or more songs. i say this because on the college coach the other morning i was singing DANDER DANGER, HIGH VOLTAGE, WHEN WE TOUCH, WHEN WE KISS is my head. then i started to mix in the theme from the GOSTBUSTERS. the lyrics over the top of this song sounded really good. now i don't have the ameanities to actually do this so somebody will have to get back to me on this. also there was a cracking mini mix on radio 1 the other day at preciesly 22:00 the other day which can still be heard on play back. (last thursday i believe, so you have today and tomorrow to listen to it). the song in question lasted for just over five minutes and had 37 different song samples in it.

another example of this would be ORBITALS halcyon with BELINDA CARLIE heaven is a place on earth!, with ROD STUART! shot through the heart! and the DARKNESS i believe in a thing called love all mixed together.

i was hoping people could add to this to create an interesting eclectic mash up, that one day somebody with the ameanities could do. if you could keep it to your own thoughts rather than just what some other dj has done that would be great.

this is only supposed to be a light hearted thing so enjoy.

Anyone interested in essential, albeit cheesy, mash-ups should check out this CD: 'Pop Chop - Cut the Fu*k Up - The Remix project'

It's a compilation that mashes up well known hip hop acappellas over classic eighties instrumentals and movie theme tunes! It includes: Eminem vs Survivor, Obie Trice vs Hall & Oates, Will Smith vs Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott vs The Cure, Grandmaster Flash vs INXS, Wyclef Jean vs Technotronic, Skee-Lo vs the Beverly Hills Cop, Public Enemy vs The Ghostbusters theme tune, etc etc!

Certainly worth checking out for 2 Many DJ's style mash-ups. I think these tracks are available on vinyl too, for those of you vinyl purists out there :P

Agreed. That was the first issue of Mixmag I ever bought and was what really got me interested in dance music beyond the Chems. Great mashup of The Rapture's "House of Jealous Lovers" (accapella) with Igor S. "Boomerang."

As for the post above that, Skee-lo v. Beverly Hills Cop!!! 8O "I wish I was a little bit taller, wish I was a baller, wish I had girl who looked good, I would call her......" Awesome........ Skee-lo was one of the big reasons I picked up Krafty Kuts "These Are the Breaks". Which reminds me, Krafty's mashup of Lil' Kim's "How Many Licks" (instrumental) with Busta Rhymes' "Dangerous" is great, too.

Yeah i havnt sure if it was mixmag or muzik mag, cheers for correcting me. "House of Jealous Lovers" is very good bit of the set, I also like it when the ''We Want Your Soul'' Accapella is played. Sets like that are cool cause there bring in so many different sounds and records that are not just dance music. I Think 2 many djs are very good at that kinda thing. The ''New York Nix Odesey'' by Armand Van Helden is also very good, and in genral Scratch Perverts and Krafty Kuts sets are good.

The whole segment from Tomcraft "Loneliness" through to the Freeland/Plump DJs mash is great.

I haven't, unfortunately, listened to any 2ManyDJs mixes yet, but I'll d/l a couple before the weekend, if I remember.

strange u should mention ghostbusters - i used toi drop the dub b side then when it breaks down lay daft punk 'da funk' over the top, the acid sounds wicked over it! especially when the 4/4 drops! u can then slam the ghostbusters bassline when it comes back in coz if u drop it at the right point it goes to the break in da funk when the ghostbusters bassline starts again - many a student party in manchester went right off to that mix!! X-D X-D 8)

first off: 2 many dj's are the kings of this type of mixing.

MTV mash ups did a couple of nice ones. My favourite has to be Busta Rhymes - Dangerous with the Cure - Lullaby.

Also Fatboy Slim made a bootleg with his Rockafeller Skank mixed with Rolling Stones - Satisfaction. very nice
