That would also mean that they're not playing for a very long time? How long are their gigs usually? One hour? Less...? That Friday gig is my excuse for coming to London for a week all the way from Finland so I really hope it'll be worth it.

Between 1h30 and 2h

Why wouldn't they play a decent length set? It's their comeback gig, they're gonna lift the roof off the place as long as they can!
At a guess I would say they'll do about 45 mins of material pre-further, then launch into the album proper for the next hour, then throw in 3-4 songs (including encore) to make up the rest of the set.
I say this because of the Metallica gig I went to in '06 - It was 20 years since Chris Burton died and Master of Puppets came out - so they played an hour of new stuff and classics followed by 'Master of Puppets' in full, in order, then played out the last half hour with a few big hits.
"I needed to believe in something...I needed to believe!"

I just found out that in France the 24 is a holiday, and I could have stayed in London for longer instead of leaving at 10AM. Fuck my life.

The Chemical Brothers sets have lasted for about 2 hours on all the previous occasions I've been to see them iirc, so would expect the same next week. Although I'm hoping there's a 3am curfew for the weekend gigs so we get to see a couple of warm up acts to whet our appetites before the main event!!

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

right, well I'm obviously not going to make it to Victoria for the train back to Brighton for 11.32 on the sunday night, anyone any suggestions for what I can do until 4? I have no idea of anywhere to go as I live in Plymouth and am staying at a friends in Brighton. Thanks for any tips.

Ah, it was just a fault with national rail's site, there is a train back to brighton at 1 on monday morning :)

This may be a bit premature but is anybody going to these gigs planning on making a good video recording of the show? Come on! This is an unprecedented esxperience: four consecutive nights of Chemical goodness! We have to immortalize them!

seeing as its the first time the album will be played in full for the first time at these shows and its a good week or so before its released i can see there being a strict control on video being taken at the show. ive done a few shows where big acts have played "rehersal" style shows where a new album has been played for the first time and theres been a control on video being taken, that being said, its always up to the artist whether they do this or not, so who knows

I don't think there's been very strict taping policies with the Chems before (just look at that vast archive of beautiful bootlegs), and if this is, technically, the first official "release" of the album to the public, I'd think they'd want it spread around a bit, no? It's not like a leak; they're playing it live as an exclusive (and likely altered) preview, not to mention the fact that it'll probably include a set of regular songs as well.

shouldnt that be £33 sneaks! but good point too.

i hate people that stand at the back just filming the entire set of any band. its fucking sad. and i make it my mission to stop people doing it at shows i do

I wouldn't doubt there will be YouTube clips of varying mobile phone quality making the rounds after these shows.
