Like Grooveshark then?
Grooveshark is illegal and will eventualy be shut down
The best music streaming website is Deezer (deezer.com). BUT it's French, and for the moment, most of the content is only available in France (it might change in the future, as they are growing more and more, and are now really big in France). They have a free offer, where you only have 128kbps streaming, and ads from time to time between the tracks (and visual ads on the site) and an offer for 9€/months where you have no ads, high quality, and you can listen to music on your smartphone, or with a desktop application.
You can download locally all your playlists or sync your favourite albums. It's great. I have this offer for free with my cell phone plan, it's great.
You can also have Deezer on Logitech hi-fi stuff (digital radios, etc...) Western Digital WD TV, and other devices like that.
Also, every McDonalds here is sonorised by Deezer.
So I think it's the next big think, if they manage to get all the rights outside of France.

I'm going to look like a n00b now but I didn't know it was illegal. I assumed it was like Spotify where they got permission. Oh well.
NAPSTER FOREVER!
NAPSTER FOREVER!
Spotify have permissions, but last time I checked they still had a shitload of illegal stuff (but it's more or less like Deezer 3 years ago so they might get better). Also the numbers they announced last year (users, listens, etc) were totally false.
As for Grooveshark, it only contains content uploaded by the users. That means :
1. totally illegal
2. A lot of doubles
3. A lot of wrong tags, fakes, etc. I bet you can find "Bass Test" and "Racing the tide" by the Chems on it.
But before Deezer became Deezer and legal, it was called Blogmusic and was more or less the same as Grooveshark.
Another French website like that, however (Radioblog) was shut down and the owners of the site had to pay an important fine (1 million euros)

Isn't Racing The Tide an actual name? http://www.discogs.c.../release/169487

spotify and we7 are completely legal in the UK, all content is official afaik
Deezer got shut down over here, but spotify and we7 filled the gap
i much prefer we7 as i dont have to install anything on my computer to use it, from what i can see they have pretty much exactly the same content
grooveshark is full of low quality misnamed crap, and incomplete albums
i've been listening to WATN loads this week now, rememebering how much i loved it
wish i still had the leaked version with to original Do It Again sample...

Orange is willing to offer its Deezer Premium + offer outside of France :

So if you've got Orange and a smartphone, be prepared.
By the way, the article also states that 500 000 people now have a premium account, thanks to Orange (there was only 25 000 before they had a common offer)
