Expectations For The Tour

I think they should do a real setlist with the new and old stuff mixed together so that we have a real chemical show, not a showcase + short live. If they do that, I won't be disturbed if they use the visuals from the DVD cause those visulas fit perfectly live as long as they're not put in the same order that on the DVD (cause the show, as it is now, is really like watching the DVD at home). About the old tracks, I think there should be some surprises, and new visuals.
So here's my wish for a setlist :
Intro (Tomorrow Never Knows and a little bit of Snow, but not the whole track)
Horse Power (really, it would be a great opener)
Hey Boy Hey Girl
Three Little Birdies Down Beats
Life Is Sweet (Remix 1)
It Began In Afrika
Swastika Eyes (remix)
Swoon
Dissolve
Hoops/EBW 6
Flashback
Saturate
Believe
Don't Think (just the first part of the track)
Midnight Madness
Acid Children vocal
The Test
Come With Us
Leave Home
Block Rockin' Beats
K + D + B
Escape Velocity
The Private Psychedelic Reel (for the win !)
That would be really good, with some suprises, some hits...and I think it's consistent. By the way, if they play Escape Velocity, I'd like them to play it near the end, as an encore or something, cause the second position is not the good one for EV. It's epic so it has to be at the end. It's like TPPR, I can't imagine it to be played in the middle of the show, it wouldn't be the best choice.
So, what are YOUR expectations for the tour ?

My only wish list for the tour would be to add Don't Think! The bassline is HUGE and it would definitely get the aussie crowd pumping... just saying what I know. I'm not going to push it though as they may not even have a visual planned for it. I'm just hoping they come to Austraila first before I expect too much!

by set lists.
However some rarer tracks off Come With Us and DYOH would be so great!
Definitely Don't Think.
Maybe something like Harpoons/Snooprah to replace the recent, mid-set Surface to Air as a nice slow build up to kick things off for hour 2?
If they pulled out Swiper or Rize Up I'd flip out.
These are all hopes though and I really don't care if they get up there and play obnoxious noise for 2 hours, I would love it as I'm sure most would.

I think that the second sets at the Roundhouse were an abridged version of the live set they'll eventually be unveiling when they finish with the listening-party shows. So we have this skeleton of a setlist to work with:
Quote
- "Chemicals Are Good/Bad" Vocal Sample
- Under The Influence
- Out Of Control/Setting Sun
- It Doesn’t Matter Transition
- Saturate
- Believe
- Elektrobank Beats/Acid Children Vocal Sample
- Chemical Beats
As you can see (and hear) the set contains many artifacts from the WATN tour. However, in many places transitions are used to go into different songs than normal, often to jarring effect, due to the setlist's abbreviation. So I'll make a few hypothetical additions to the setlist based on where those transitions normally lead:
Quote
- All Rights Reversed
- "Chemicals Are Good/Bad" Vocal Sample
- Under The Influence
- Out Of Control/Setting Sun
- It Doesn’t Matter Transition
- Star Guitar
- Saturate
- Believe
- Hoops or The Pills Won't Help You Now
- The Golden Path
- Elektrobank Beats/Acid Children Vocal Sample
- Chemical Beats
So now I'll explain those additions:
All Rights Reversed: By the end of the WATN tour I wasn't expecting this song to ever be played again. But I was given a curveball after hearing about the Roundhouse shows. The setlist for Friday's show listed the song, and despite it not being played, you can clearly see in this video:
http://www.youtube.c...ZI&hd=1#t=3m39s
that the HBHG-ARR transition is used. Of course, this transition was also used in 2008 to transition into Midnight Madness, but not only are we clearly out of the Brotherhood era, but the visuals for ARR are used, not Midnight Madness. This in addition to its appearance on the setlist gives me the suspicion that it may return.
Star Guitar: Not only has it been a setlist staple since its introduction, but as you can hear here:
http://www.youtube.c...Ys5sd-I#t=5m00s
They use the transition which always went into Star Guitar on the WATN tour, except re-purposed as a sloppy transition into Saturate. It's like there's a gaping, Star Guitar-shaped hole there in the setlist.
Hoops or The Pills Won't Help You Now: I have a feeling that it will be one or the other, considering that on the WATN tour they shared visuals and a spot on the setlist. But the question of which one is difficult: we know that the Brothers really like the Pills, and excluding their big hits and new album tracks, the songs they play live tend to be the ones they like. But Hoops has been a consistent crowd-pleaser and has appeared on every tour since its release.
The Golden Path: We already know that they'll be using the Elektrobank breakdown on this tour, and ever since The Golden Path came out it's always preceded that breakdown.
Ok, so we've gotten this far. But by no means is it a full setlist yet! As you can see those songs don't all fit neatly together, so let's put placeholders where the setlist remains ambiguous:
Quote
- All Rights Reversed
- "Chemicals Are Good/Bad" Vocal Sample
- Unknown song or group of songs
- Under The Influence
- Unknown song or group of songs
- Out Of Control/Setting Sun
- It Doesn’t Matter Transition
- Star Guitar
- Unknown song or group of songs
- Saturate
- Believe
- Hoops or The Pills Won't Help You Now
- Unknown song or group of songs
- The Golden Path
- Elektrobank Beats/Acid Children Vocal Sample
- Chemical Beats
Encore
- Unknown song
- Unknown song
I'll leave those blanks for you to fill in. OK, speculation done!

I actually like the 'Champ' theory! ARR needs to come out again, but Hoops needs a comeback!

Have you noticed that there's been a trend with the Brothers to do "pre-encores"? As in, a song before the set-closer that's usually meant to build up tension before the last track proper? And they've always been their "hidden gem" songs, as in the ones that are generally fan-favorites but not necessarily popular numbers. To prove this, here's a rundown of their "pre-encores" by era (excluding EPD because those shows were more like DJ sets):
DYOH: An unreleased track with some trippy sound effects
Surrender: Leave Home
Come With Us: The Test (and the crowds rejoiced) or, on occasion, Got Glint?
Push The Button: Hold Tight London (and the crowds rejoiced even more)
We Are The Night: Das Spiegel or, on occasion, A Modern Midnight Conversation.
So that's it. Of the songs up there, the most popular is probably Leave Home, right? And even then that's not exactly their most famous single (it was reduced to a minute-long performance on the WATN tour).
So, why do I bother saying this? Because I think what they pick as the pre-encore for this tour may hold some relevance. They could, of course, go with a song from Further. But, as I think we've stated several times on here, there is no such thing as a "hidden gem" on Further. The album was meant to be taken as a whole and as such none of the songs have really been overlooked. So, this is just wild speculation (and not anything near "chemical theory"), but I've discovered a viable new option: what if they made the pre-encore fluid? The visuals used would be the same, but the song would change and the visuals could be "tweaked" to fit the song (if you don't believe they could do it, just look how easily they changed up the Das Spiegel visuals for MMC). It would stop the naysayers who claim they play the same set every night in their tracks and (I'll admit it) be a nice treat for the fans. It would be a way to air out songs that have never seen the live stage or have left it for a while without having to drastically alter the setlist (meaning that all those songs in your dream setlists up their might actually be played without the need to do a three-hour show). And (again, the Das Spiegel/MMC example is viable here) they could use a single segue to go out of any song they played and into the static set-closer. I'll admit it might take some effort, but wouldn't it bring so much more life into their shows?
Fanboy rant over.
