The Boston/New England region (north of NYC) got about .6 meters of snow dumped on them from one storm. They typically get winter snow in that area, but it's a fast significant snowfall with nasty winds and flooding. The flood in particular stands out in this kind of storm.

It sounds really bad, 6 meters of snow together with flood, I hope where you are, Stur8, things are much more quieter.

Thanks, the storm passed us and we got a touch of snow. I'm between NYC and DC.

Also, it was .6 meters, not 6! About 2 feet. The latter certainly would have been an international story...

Congratulations to France, great team.
I hoped to see my team in finales, but they flopped this time :(
Well, better luck next time, and again, congratz to France! Posted Image

Yeah, and it was a bit of a surprise to see Qatar in final... Obviously the rules are flawed, to have allowed them to have a team with just 3 "real" Qatarians, and all the other players were "bought". Nonetheless, kudos to them for getting so far with a team like that

On a less happy note, here's an interview with cartoonist Luz, from Charlie Hebdo, that anyone who'd like to understand better what is Charlie Hebdo, or why, no, they are not racist like some people like to pretend, shoud watch.

Attorneys like to talk big. They like to make threats. They like to convey their understanding of the law like it is God's word.

Posted Image

I can't say I do none of those things. At least, I like to talk big.

But yesterday, I was able to, as they say, put my money where my mouth is. I won what is called a motion for summary judgment.

Essentially, the entire case was decided in my client's favor. And my client is happy. And I am extraordinarily happy.

Posted Image

It was a defining moment.

I actually stood there in court yesterday and got to do one of those "objection" things to a judge. And then the judge sustained the objection.

Posted Image

It literally caused the opposing counsel to shut the f*ck up.

And then promptly lose.

So now I get to help my client evict somebody, and it has been a long time coming. And I feel successful now like I have never felt successful before.

And it feels... Quite good.

Congratz, no doubt that it's not the last time it will feel good, methinks!

Great, Pooter! I hope there's more like this to come for you! Hold on to that moment whenever there are obstacles showing up!
Btw, I love those kind of "big" speeches in court when it serves fairness and justness and when striking logic makes its way. That's why I love movies centering on court room stories :).

The first two episodes of Better Call Saul are so good ! Even better than what I expected. And seeing Michael Mando in it, best known for his role of Vaas in Far Cry 3, makes me extremely joyful ! For anyone not familiar with him, have a look at these two cult scene from Far Cry 3

This is unfortunately satire, but I love the idea. Article falsely states that a nightclub in Austin has replaced its resident DJs with a "robot" that automatically downloads the day's Beatport Top 40 and continuously beatmatches it:

http://www.edmnightl...s-resident-djs/

If this were to be true, and if it were to catch on, it would be nothing but a good thing. If a robot can do the same job as a basic top 40 DJ, then a robot can economically replace one, and eventually it's going to be very difficult to find a job if that's the kind of DJ you are. Then the only human DJs who will be able to draw a crowd anymore are going to be ones with enough talent and musical knowledge to provide an experience better than that of a robot. I love this. If we're letting computers do all the work for us already, why not just make them the superstars?

Pooter,

Posted Image

And now for something completely different...

I decided to quit the job I hated in Calgary, go back to the old lower paying job that I loved in Edmonton, and start applying for grad schools. Crazy! No? Studying for the GRE exam is intense, especially while moving.

Thanks man.

And I wish you the best of luck with that endeavor!
