I'm listening to the Gorillaz new album. The teaser sounded weird, I was disapointed and thought I wouldn't like the album. I was completely wrong ! It sounds great !

And the new video for Stylo is awesome too (there's Bruce Willis in it)

i have the strange habit to first download the album to see if it's any good before i buy it, so far i only found fakes (the D-sides LP)

i tell you what i think about it when i have heard the whole album. the single is actually pretty nice indeed

I didn't really like the single. I didn't like the teaser either. It sounded really too different from the usual Gorillaz.

But the album as a whole makes perfect sense, is great, and the Gorillaz "spirit" is here.

I'm such a downer

I didn't like it at all

I'd have to listen again because there was one song I liked but I can't remember the name

Seconded. A friend said it's the best pop album since The Beatles' Sgt Pepper. I don't know if I would go that far, but it sure is an instant classic.

Love the video! Dig the song, too!

I'm having fun at the Gorillaz site, visiting Plastic Beach. It's clever... and Herve Villachez makes an appearance. Sweet!

Now off to listen...

Holy crap!

A couple songs in and it's got my attention. This is good stuff. The intro to White Flag sounds like Martin Denny!

Wow. I'm really impressed. Also I'm pretty surprised. lol

Good album, thanks Ben. I hadn't realized he'd even started recording a new album.

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

Haven't heard the new album yet, but I like Stylo a lot ( both Music video and song). Their website is really awesome. I even splurged and purchased into their G-Club they offer. I get my own Stylo car!

One of those, slow burners I think, I hope...

Stylo has grown on me and I now can't get enough of that beat :)

Like all good albums, they tend to take a few listens, there are no instant pop hits Like Dare, etc, but it's about moving on and Damon has certainly done this with PB.

I like Stylo, but the others may have to grow on me, indeed...

Nothing hit me on the first listen as amazing.

@ Ben_j...I think Stylo got a bit more interesting after I saw the video, which is a ridiculous thing really, it's about the music I know...I haven't had time to fully digest the technical side of the full LP yet, but I shall load onto the POD tonight for the drive to work!

Only members of the newly launched G-Club are eligible to buy tickets, which go on sale tomorrow.

22nd March - Bristol Trinity

23rd March - Cambridge Junction

25th March - Brighton Old Market

I've been playing Plastic Beach since I bought it on Friday. This album keeps unfolding with every listen, and each day is a new favorite song or a new noise I didn't hear before. It's quite infectious! The only tune I haven't been feeling is Sweepstakes. But hey there's 15 other tracks to get into. I really love that tune with Lou Reed. It's been a long time since I've really dug into a whole album and found it consistent with where it's taken me. What I'm liking is the eclectic feel of the journey, which keeps things interesting. I can't peg this album's style which is a good thing. With regard to how it will hold up in the long haul, I suppose only time will tell.

set list for the Portsmouth show:

Orchestral Intro / Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach / Last Living Souls / O Green World / Stylo / On Melancholy Hill / Kids With Guns / Some Kind Of Nature / Rhinestone Eyes / Broken / Dirty Harry / White Flag / Superfast Jellyfish / Glitter Freeze / DARE / El Manana / Don't Get Lost In Heaven / Demon Days // To Binge / Clint Eastwood / Feel Good Inc

So happy to hear that they are playing Don't Get Lost in Heaven and Demon Days. Those could possibly be my favorite songs they do. I only have one question. Why so little from the self titled era?

And now for some more news for The UK people:

"THE GORILLAZ are to gig in the UK again after a five-year absence.

DAMON ALBARN, MICK JONES and Co are set to bring Plastic Beach to London's Camden Roundhouse on April 29 and 30.

The likes of DE LA SOUL, BOBBY WOMACK and KANO will play the music, backed by JAMIE HEWLETT's artwork and animation.

HAPPY MONDAYS' legend SHAUN RYDER will also take to the stage.

Members of the fan club get first dibs at tickets from 7.30am on Tuesday at gorillaz.com/g-club.

Everyone else should go to roundhouse.org.uk from Friday."
