should prob explain what it is, its footage obtained by an underground leftie group of portlands own police forces cameras - shows how they ID people in the crowd and record all the faces, and then shows how police moved a peacefull anti-war protest on using pepper spray and battons, then told the media they did it 'because someone threw a bottle' - this film clearly shows that this is not the case.

actually i disagree, i remember those protests well, and though the pictures werent shown it was widely reported as to the nature of what the placards were all about. and to bve honest, following the uproar over the cartoons which had been published about mohammed, maybe publishing them wouldnt have been a bad idea? censorship or the media actually displaying some responsible reporting?

the above (US case) is different, this is police 'supposedly' upholding the laws made for the US, not a bunch of fanatical fundamentalists. or maybe they are? who knows...

the banner saying freedom go to hell says it all about that protest. whats up with our world this is a government war not civilian, we cant change the world in whispers u have to shout it out but not in a violent way, that solves nothing but loss of life and most of all children being brought up in all that violence. Come on, be-heading, how sick. they should be more civilised in this day and age.

I like violent protest. I root for the Insurgents.
Unfortunately, violent revolution as a viable option for changing regimes died when they invented the machine gun. Automatic weapons allow a small, well armed group of people to control large masses of unarmed and under-armed civilians.
Burroughs (William S.) had a formula for violent revolution in the modern age, consisting mainly of random assasinations. You make a list of the top shareholders of various military companies, judges, bankers, stockbrokers, etc... and you randomly kill a few whenever you get the chance. Killing 1 stockbroker does more for the revolution than killing 100 cops.

Here's the thing - yeah, the cops walking around with cameras - let them take pictures of my face, let them take pics of my shoes, my clothes, whatever. I haven't been to tons of protests but I've gone to a few - there could be my face floating around some database somewhere. So what. When I've gone to protest I've done nothing wrong or out of the norm than other people around me - protests I chose to go to were relatively mellow like so many others except for the ones that made it to the news. I just don't want to be afraid, is all. What happened between the cops and the protestors in the vid is absolutely wrong there is no doubt in my mind - but this collecting of data is nothing new, these narrative recommendations in the vid of "disguising yourself" smacks of fear mongering. If I'm going to question my government I'm going to show my face. Please - these folks (who I agree with) are at a protest, they are ripe for attracting attention both good and bad. They should stand up and show their face and speak for those who are likely too afraid to speak for themselves.
When the Iraq war (part deux) first broke out and there were tons of protests all over, there were actually websites made up by self proclaimed patriotic nationalists to "identify" protestors. Their hope was to expose these protestors as unpatriotic terrorist sympathizers - fuel for employers to fire employees, teachers to fail students, etc. etc.. Don't know what became of those sites but in my opinion these vigilante tactics, these tattletales smacked of pre WWII just as much as anything shown in the video.

on the islamic protest point, the british police admitted that if they had tried to stop the march there would have been a huge riot and probably killings...what a load of bullshit, you simply CANNOT let people walk around a major european city holding signs that incite murder, terrorism, violence, behadings and applaud terrorist attacks.
imagine if in london in the 80's,people walked around with "up the i.r.a" signs or "londons holocaust is coming" signs. they wouldn't have gotten an inch! (and no, i dont aggree with the ira) when demonstrations like that happened in the north the army quashed them. so whats the difference?
