Yo,

I'm pretty sure dance music is not going anywhere. I went to sankeys in manchester a couple of weeks ago to see Sneak who was excellent, last weekend I saw Tom Middleton. I hadn't been clubbing for ages before I saw these two and they were both great nights, the music was superb, so I don't think its going anywhere, I wouldnt define the state of dance music by Fatboy Slims lates offering either. Slash.com was utter rubbish. They both played spektrum kinda new sneakerbeater, good choice for your summer sound system mix which is damn good.

They said Hardcore would never last, We said hardcore would never die and who was right eh.......

always outnumbered is just poor. i was a massive prodigy supporter in my younger days and i will always love their old stuff and respect the work of liam howlett - but that one is just rubbish
love is all.

personally i disagree, i feel its a good effort, mayb the only reason it gets knocked is cause the rest of the prodigy stuff is wicked. Maybe girls and spitfire do really stand out from the other tunes, but still the likes of hotride isnt bad like the rest of ablum compared to new fbs album.

Yeah, record execs seem to be pushing the whole piss-easy 80's rehashed shite and have no time to let any new forward thinking artists breakthrough.

There's so much shit out there that it's never been a better time to create your own tunes, that way you can always listen to what you're into at the time.

There is some great dance music out there. If you dont have it already then I strongly recommend Mylo's album Destroy Rock and Roll. It took me quite a few listens but this is easily the best album I have bought this year.

I was supposed to be going to see the Prodigy tonight but I had to sell my ticket cause I cant afford it.

Very true sneaker, but who is in the super league, whos top and who is vergeing on it i would say..

1.Chems

2.Jaxx

3.Underworld

4.Orbital

5.Daft

6.Prodigy

(the main super groups)

Vergeing on it

Royksopp

Mylo

Faithless

Groove Armada

There needs to be a couple on new acts that spice it up a bit liken the current super groups did a few years ago, that would genorate greater interest if new sounds wre there.

I really don't like that electroclash/electro-house become so damn popular. It's really not my thing :? Seems like it may become THE most popular dance music style. There are some great electro artists, like Rex The Dog, Black Strobe, but groups like Scissor Sisters, Chicks On Speed are just... PIZZA. So much of cheese :?

Well, thing is, it's the "in" thing for dance music right now. It's where it's at. I think as far as what's popular and "fresh", electroclash is it. For now. It's kinda like the new trance, imo. And like everything else that's up-to-the-moment it might not have too long a shelf life. The thing with most electroclash is that it's very niche, it's very subcategory and it will be very very difficult for it *not* to sound a bit dated in a couple years. Because of this, it might be hard for some of these artists to grow and evolve without stepping out of the niche.

We shall see.

Personally i would say Royksopp are dance, poor leno, eple and remind me in my eyes are clear dance tracks. I think Royksopps new album will put them into the super league leaving behind the poor live shows of faithless and groove armada. Hopefully now orbital are now more fans will look in other directions. Must say i personally hate the trance shit the likes of Armin Van Buren and PVD, i hope thats not the future as it seems all the same to me.

Now, I'm not going to say that Scissor Sisters are going to be a great band when you look back ten years from now, but their debut really is a great album. One of the best of the past year. I dunno, I never thought of myself as following a trend (certainly not when you consider a) what is popular over here and b) the type of music most of my friends like, which is the opposite of what is popular here), but I really do like the electro-house thing. I'm really hearing the electro influences in just about everything these days, whether subtle or obvious and while I know it won't last, I'm content knowing that some of the songs of this year will remain great classics when looking back a few years from now.

Besides remixes by other artists, Royksopp have only 1 dance track in their discography - how can they be a dance group?
