This is the coolest thing. It's an adaptable database of users which allows a spider-web like tracing of bands, books, movies, etc. Simply search for a band, book, or movie you like and it will web you to selections you are likely to like, which you can then web out further.
It actually seems to be pumping out decent suggestions. Super fricking cool.

3 favorites are Chemical Brothers, U2 and Spiritualized.
The first thing that came up was REM, and while I think they are a good band who had a smashing heyday, they kind of lost me over the years.
Other good ones that came up were Spacemen 3, James, Jesus & Mary Chain, The Alarm (blast from the past!)... good stuff, and what's really cool is pressing on "related bands" and this funky moving "family" tree comes up. Love it!
Something like this would come in handy at record stores, like the big one I worked for - Because even though I worked in one for years, when it came to shopping for music I could never make up my mind what I wanted or I'd be at a complete loss over what I wanted to get. (same thing happens when I go to rent a film, too!)

Crystal Method are pretty good. I think their last album "Legion of Boom" wasn't to shabby either. I was working at a record store at the time and never got sick of it, so it stood the test of time. The biggest problem with them that I have is that they're a little egotistic and the sounds/voices on their songs aren't unique. They have like 3,000 synthesizers in their studio and yet it sounds like their always using the factory presets on their synths. I think the chems stand a much higher ground in that most of their synths they go further in making the sounds unique and that a lot of them you have to know the insides and outs of a synth to really figure out where it came from.
