And what about a chemical brothers remix of Kylie showing up on a soundtrack of a "gay" TV-series.

(I don't know title; something like; straight eye for a gay guy??????)

You almost got it right... It's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. There's going to be a sort of table turning spin-off soon on Comedy Central called Straight Plan for the Gay Man - sort of like straight eye for the gay guy! ;)

imagine buying me a gay cd :-// ......you are lucky because you are girl...i better wait for the precious kylie cd single...

I've sold that cd to gays and straights, the people working at a record store could care less. And if they do care, they'll talk about you after you leave the store. ;)

Though I admit, it's been mostly women that bought the cd, saying it was a gag gift for their men on Valentine's Day!

Sorry didn't see the serie.

It's not on cable here.

I only know about the cd.

I got my Kylie remix today on the NME awards compilation.

Whirly what's your opinion as a professional music seller on the topic:

THERE IS OR ISN'T TYPICAL GAY MUSIC.

My opnion is there isn't (except for Barbara Streisant)

There definatly is music catered for the gay community, some with subliminal messages e.g. "They have everything for you men to enjoy,

You can hang out with all the boys ..." Village People: YMCA

hahaha!! My opinion...

Well... I'll just tell you what I've seen over the years and give examples:

Yes, I have a gay neighbor I've sold Barbara Streisand to. Lots of it, he was so excited when she released her Movie album. He lovingly calls her Babs and gets a twinkle in his eyes just talking about her. It's all good.

A good friend of mine I've known for over 20 years (yes, he's gay) really digs Elton John and thinks he's a fabulous performer. It's all good.

The other day I sold a Melissa Etheridge cd to a woman wearing a large gay pride necklace. It's all good.

I've sold a lot of trance compilations to very well dressed, well groomed, and affectionate med shopping together. It's all good.

My old boss, a flaming homosexual and proud of it, was really into hair bands (and he's a kickass guitarist and has a great voice.) He bought all kinds of music AND made no bones about his wide knowledge of all things showtunes. It's all good.

I have other examples but to be honest, I'm usually blind when it comes to a person's sexual orientation. It doesn't matter.

I know what a person means when they say they think something sounds "gay" - like when Bobbie Gillespie says nobody does gay disco better than the Chemical Brothers and that's why Primal Scream wanted them to remix Swastika Eyes. But overall I think it's a bit goofy to think that sexual orientation (unless we're talking about lyrical content) negates how a song sounds. It's just hard to explain. I think a lot of times this "it sounds gay" is bullshit - there's no one thing or style that makes a song "gay" as people call it. I don't go listening for it and I don't listen to something and say, "oh well, that sounds awfully gay to me." That's just kind of silly if you stop and think about it. And because something sounds "gay" or whatever is not a valid reason to hate a song, imo.

Anyway.

Actually, I do. :)

And I'm proud to live in a place that views them as no different than straights.

Thanks Whirly for your insight.

I agree with you. Music wise and view wise.

I live in country were marriage between two people of the same sex is possible.

I'm proud that we (dutchmen) are not as narrow minded as others (for example iguanapunk).

Hey, i'm not narrowminded. I love lesbians, they are beautfull. I would love to be a blonde one. It's just I feel that two men shit stabbing is gross. Are you telling me you agree with this notion; that bumming is beautiful and should be respected by all? No, its rank.

Whatever happened to sexual intercourse using the correct organs? sometimes you may slip into the wrong hole, but that would be an accident, and now I believe I may have crossed some line, you people aren't as open as us English.

Sorry against this sort of logic I can't compete.

Gay people are still people who can do what they want.

It's not my way of making love.

But hey if they like it.

They can do it in my opnion.

iguanapunk, you are free to have your opinion, it's not like you're alone in your thinking and I won't think less of you as a person because we aren't on the same page. But I get the impression that you feel gay people are inferior because of what they choose to do in the bedroom. If that's the case, I will have to respectfully disagree with your point of view.

Straight people bugger in the bum too you know. Known fact - lots of people have fetishes that we might think are gross. What people do in the bedroom is none of anyone else's business - they are not somehow less than human.

Yeah, my views may be PC, and being politically correct is so uncool these days - but that's how I feel and I'm sticking to it.

You lot must have very strong opinions in this area... 3 pages filled in a day!

And under the topic Delik's Beats :P

My view on homosexuality: it should not mean anything to anybody. It's a sexual preference that -- in occurence -- occurs naturally, during human development. Anal sex is a logical decision, if dangerous. I have no problem with it -- even if I don't fancy it myself.
