Don't you think most of us here recognize the genius of Dig Your Own Hole, or do you take us for a bunch of stupid bastards?

Get ahold of yourself, man. Maybe innerwatch heard some Dig Your Own Hole elements in the Boxer, what's wrong with that? Maybe he's able to draw parallels between Chems records, lots of people do that you know. Obviously you don't have that ability since your ears have been plugged up since 1997...

Maybe He just consolate himself, because better is the new album than none album. Something is better than nothing.

Well first of all, I'm not the first one who mentioned a DYOH reference in this thread. ;)

Secondly, I do think there are DYOH-like elements in The Boxer: the drum breaks, the distorted voice, and the overall psychedelism of the track reminded me of that album.

Dude's for real. what does it matter if it is DYOH style or not. try to listen to it without comparing it to something , see it as an induvidual track....anyway. I think it's brilliant. It makes me happy , it reminds me of sunny days and the color yellow ( Hahahaa oke that's sounds weird ) but i think it's a fucking powerfull track that has the power to make me laugh again when i feel bad.

AMEN

Do you know what a breakbeat is? I don't hear any house beats in The Boxer. The beat in Believe is house (notice the kick drum on every beat), the beat in The Boxer is a break (notice the funky kick and snare drum placements, as well as the crazy hihats). I think you mean the track sounds housey, and I agree it does, but you can't say there's no breakbeat on The Boxer. If I had to put it into a genre, I'd say it's a mixture of funky house and breakbeat (plus Chemical Brothers - they're a genre in themselves).

But dude, you've got to get over the whole "if it's not better than DYOH it's shit" thing. I agree that DYOH is their best album, but that doesn't stop me from absolutely loving Push The Button. They're two completely different albums. Stop comparing the songs to their older stuff and you'll see exactly where they're coming from. When Surrender came out, I hated most of it because it wasn't in the style of DYOH. But you know what? I got over it, and now I love that album too. You've gotta realise that they're not a one trick pony, they do other stuff besides breakbeat, and I think Push the Button represents the more musical side of what they do. Give it a chance man, stop thinking of it in terms of what you expect it to be and let it suprise you and move you. Don't think of the album as a nihilistic escape like DYOH, because this album is the exact opposite.

I would say, this album is made for today simply generation of cloth-eared nincompops peopples!!!Peopples today like a simply house beats, than tiring of some weird break music!!!That's it!!I must say that i like to listen every minimal track from Mathew Jonson for example than the newest album of Chems. When i bought Push The Button, a listen to it 2 maybe 3 times and a don't listen to it since 2 months. This music is not for me, not anymore...But i really wait for something really good from them, maybe someday...

You're beginning to annoy me equinox, as you DO seem to hate anything that's not big beat. It's not 1997 anymore, it hasn't been for 8 years! Big beat is over, it's never coming back. If all you can do is complain about that, then do us a favour and don't post - we've heard it all before.

It happened 8 years ago, most people are already over it by now. No offense, but you must have a fairly small record collection coz there wasn't a massive amount of big beat albums released (that I know of)

I never liked TYPICAL Big Beat, that's because i really don't liked Exit Planet Dust. Big Beat is too slow for me and too...boooring. I always liked Breakbeat, something like elektrobank...hmmm, some sort of psychedelia, when chems plays the same thing in about 8 minutes over and over with a little differences in rhythm, and faster and bigger and massivelly and so on. That's why for me absolutely best things from chems is elektrobank and especially Don't Stop The Rock (EBW Version because it's longer ;-) ). Now, when i know the Mathew Jonson music, i found what i was looking for some years. For me the Chemical Brothers era is finished, sadly. Don't say that breakbeat is dead because Prodigy fill the space, where chems dissapointed me :'( Breakbeat has full posibilities, wchich are waiting to use them!!!!!
