Why are these guys not getting the acclamation they deserve???

Saw them again recently at the Big Day Out in Sydney, and they absolutely killed it again..

Do they ever do shows with visuals like the Chems do?? I've only ever seen them at festivals where they have just had a small amount of lights available to them...

I think neither SMD nor the Chems need visuals. In fact, I was a bit dismayed that the visuals took over the show on the Chems' last tour--don't get me wrong, they're amazing--and wished, even, that they were scaled back a bit.

I was actually impressed that the small bit of lighting that SMD had was used really, really well. And I am in agreement that they fucking SLAY the audience with the drops in their set and the ferocity of their sound. It reminds me of the Chems back in the mid-90s. ;-)

As far as SMD getting the respect they deserve, I'm actually surprised that not more people are into them. On their MySpaz page their quote states that they're releasing another album this year. They definitely have the potential to further push themselves into the spotlight if they make an amazing follow-up to Attack Decay Sustain Release.

Send me some stuff! I've enjoyed the small amount I've heard but never delved deeper.

yea i saw SMD at big day out whilst i was waiting for prodigy to come on. They were surprising alot better than i had anticipated..From memory, their tracks on their myspace don't do them justice. I think they finished on "i believe" when we saw them and that was an insane close, very chemical broish.

i'd be interested to see what their new album is like

I approve. I think they're off to a good start.

@Pooter

How many times have you seen them?

When are they coming back here next?

One time is never enough for me!

March 16th, man. They're playing in Hollywood.

On a side note, -FUCK TICKETMASTER-. Tickets are $20.00 and there's an $8.00 "convenience" charge. Quick math: 40% CONVENIENCE CHARGE??? Fuck that. With the "building charge" it comes to $30 per ticket.

That's three sides of lamesauce.

Oh, and I've only seen them once. I've been waiting a year to see them again!

@Biff: Well then you're going to come DANCE IT OUT WITH ME BIATCH!

Well, hopefully you'll be able to. I can't believe the show is on a Sunday. What the hell is with a show in San Francisco being on a Sunday? I mean, really? Lame shit. Oh well.

I contacted The Mezzanine today and they said I could buy ticket at a partner box office! FUCK YOU TICKETMASTER! HAHAHAHAHAHA! No "convenience" fees.

It pretty much pisses me off that when SMD will be in Chicago I'll be at Coachella....

They released a live album, only in Japan. Very good one, excellent sound, recorded directly from the mixer, without any crowd sound.

I thought the SF show was a better set, I don't mind the crowds, although sometimes you want a live recording that simply sounds like the album, and that's cool...

the SF show isn't very good. The best set I have is at I love techno. The Japan set is really good too, because you hear clearly every synth. That's great
