@Pooter: I'm torn on the drug, now. When I tried to retell the whole experience to my parents and friends that had been there, I explained it as, "Being like a kid again."

My parents (or mom, moreso) were and still are firm practicers of homeopathy. When I was a kid, I took the remedy cannabis because I apparently described and acted like I was high most or all of the time.

Everything I experienced was a more intense version of my mind set as a kid, more or less. And has kinda lead me to believe that I must have a similar chemical balance of mild THC in my system all the time. (This may be actually true as my dad was doing a variety of drugs around the time of my conception.) Either that or I'm just a weird individual (which is true anyway!)

Anyway, I do want to try a milder dose again just to see if anything I've theorized about my self is true. And to see what everyone who does it is raving about. But, hey, if it's not for me, it's not for me. =)

Oh no!

A Brownie Freakout!

Pooter is right, baked goods can be fun but you have to be careful especially if you're a novice. The thing with ingesting THC is that it takes longer to get into your bloodstream and consequentially it takes a good long time to move out. Eating a pot muffin or a brownie stays with you all damn day. People say you can't overdose on THC but I think they are full of shit. Take just enough and it's a good mellow buzz, but you take too much and the dizziness sets in and so does the "fear" and paranoia. Not fun at all. That "fear" and paranoia is a horrible and scary thing.

A good friend of ours used to smoke a bowl every evening and he and his girlfriend made a tray of brownies. They proceeded to consume said tray of brownies in one sitting and it was just too much. She was OK, she passed out and was fine the next day. But he literally freaked out and gave up pot for good - which was actually a good thing for him because he was sort of turning into a pot crack head there for a while. I also tend to think there's some people who simply aren't hard wired to withstand the effects of THC. I guess there's only one way to find out, and that's try it.

Yeah, maybe my brain can't process it very well. But I DID take too much last time and I think I deserve to try again with less in my system. I guess the whole experience didn't freak me out enough to scare me off. Either that or I'm just morbidly curious. XP

Either way, thanks for the kind words from everyone! It's awesome to have buddies that know their stuff. ^^

Seriously, any drug related questions I'll be happy to answer. In fact, I think I speak for a number of Forum Folk on that one. Also, check out PIHKAL (a book written by Alexander Shulgin) if you're interested in reading about psychadelics, and check out Erowid for general drug inquiries.

PIHKAL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PiHKAL)

Erowid (http://www.erowid.org/)

And according to a UCSC professor who taught about drugs at the school who I once gave a ride to, you can, in fact, overdose on THC. That paranoia/fear state that Whirls spoke of is the exact result from a THC overdose. Bleggh, not fun.

The professor described how sometimes baked goods can contain very concentrated bits of THC which you might accidentally ingest all at once, resulting in a very unfortunate mindset.

How's everybody doing?

OK so far!

Another day of work, come home and make dinner, watch a little TV, call my friends and family, go to bed, and repeat the next day!

Friday is almost here at least!

Pooter is gonna be a birthday boy! Yay!

As for how I've been?

All up and down since May. With the exception of my Kauai hiatus in August, it's been a most stressful year worrying about health, finances, parenting, death, impending death, stability and all those things that go along with the downside of life that makes a person feel mortal and vulnerable. Although things in general have managed to come out in the wash as they always do somehow, blunty speaking this year has been quite crappy and has been an emotional headfuck - especially these past couple months which is why I've not been too active on the forum. 2007 was a really great year, and 2008 has been the ultimate comedown. I guess that's just how it goes.

Sorry to be a drag. I don't mean to head up some ridiculous online pity party - I just needed to put it down in writing. :P

There's always next year. Here's to 2009!!

Well I just gave my first semi large public speaking engagement today. I MC'd an event at my campus to a room of 150 students, faculty, member of the public, and media. I even got to politely tell a guy to shut the hell up at one point. It was for the Arts cuts debates that a few people are up in arms about here in Canada. I didn't fuck up so.....one in the win collumn for me!

YEAH! Go Rynostar! Nice one, man. Keep finding your voice--that's awesome that you got to use it in that setting. :)

@Whirls--Awwwwwwww... :-( I just want to reach out and hug you. ::sniffle:: I'm sorry about your woes, and I wish that there were something more I could do for you other than offer my sympathy and love. I know Mippio hasn't had an awesome year, either, so if it's any consolation to your misery, there's a bit of company for you.

As for me, well, I'm not going to complain. I have no reason to. Well, let me take that back--I have reason, but my woes aren't anything beyond the normal, everyday bullshit. I love you all and hopefully good times, even great times, will find each and every one of us.

There is a turbulence in the air right now that is frightening, but please, everyone, remember that it's going to be okay. Right now, it's just an extraordinary change, human history and personal history in motion. We're just not used to seeing it happen like this in fast forward. ;-)

Aww, Pooter - you are so nice. :) It almost makes me want to open a new orgy thread. Almost, hahaha! Things will get better, as they always do. It just sucks when everything's a shit storm and you're waiting things out.

Ryno you're brave for handling public speaking. Not many people have that gift (or the gift of politely telling someone to fuck off when you're ready to rip their head off).

Well, I'm glad things are looking up. The sun is setting, im ready for the weekend, and waiting till the holidays get here because things are more cheerful in those times.

So while i'm having one of those 'Star Guitar' days:

Ryno, the public speaker! That kicks ass in my book. Anybody thats able to speak to the masses is more power to them. And any cuts in the arts is disappointing because our countries and schools should be supporting it, not cutting it. Kudos!

Whirly, The oracle of the forum. I always wonder how you come up with writing all those long posts about anything chemically or non-chemically related. Even if the topic is totally beyond my comprehension, your replies are like 5 paragraphs long. Reading your stuff keeps me at least motivated enough to come here even though I'm having a shitty day. You should be writing a bio about the Chems with your posting skills.

Pooter! The Chem neighbor from the north. Always upbeat and ready to tackle the world, and another year closer to extinction ;-) Whats your plans for your B-Day bro. Here's a pot cupcake with a candle on top!

I wish everyone a great getaway!

Well, I'll be officially 20 in less than 12 hours! Kinda a bizarre milestone, I have to say. I don't feel old as much as I'm just kinda having to adjust that I'm not technically a teenager anymore. :P

Guess your big day is next to mine, Pooter! Happy nearly-parallel birthday!

Whirls, if I could give you a big hug, I so would. There's just about 8 hours of driving between that. Soon! Soon.

There you go--just started an official Vorpalstorm birthday thread. Now make sure to recount your tales of debauchery with as much accuracy as possible. ;-)

Too bad you're not in the money. :-( You should definitely come down to L.A. if you can, because it's going to be FUCKING INSAAAAAAAANE! God I can't wait.

I'm headed up to Portland this weekend for my birthday. :) Getting laid for your 28th is always a great time, right?

Pooter's post also caught my glimpsing eye. You're getting laid for the first time at 28???

(No really, I had to do a double take on your last sentence, hahaha)

Heeheeheeheeheeheeheehee

I was like, how the fuck did Iggy get his name so big on the front page like that? Then I clicked on it and started going to his posts. I thought at first that maybe he tagged himself every time he started a thread--nope. There was no reasoning behind his taggings; he was just doing it because he could.

So I did what any other logical person would do: I tagged myself in every single post that he tagged himself in, then tagged a few more for good measure, leaving my name on the front page all big and bold like that. :D

@Whirls--No I'm not getting laid for my first time!!! I'm getting laid for my 968th time!!! Where ever did you get the idea that in my last sentence that this was skinny dip numero uno???

Jesus, people.

But Whirls, I loves ya girl!!!!!!!!!

And if anyone is in San Francisco on Thursday, you're more than welcome to come have sushi with me. :)

S28! Not bad!

the vid was funny with the facial expressions and the guy with smoke coming out the ears. Kudos!

So tagging every post can make me famous?

Happy B-Day and Congrats to you Pooter for getting laid for the first time on your 28th Birthday! Heehee, Just kidding! Have a blast in Portland. Oh, and try the BridgePort Ale House for some great microbrew if your in that area.

Vorpal, Whirly, and Prochem!

Hope you guys have a 'star guitar' weekend. Take care my 'chemical' friends!

Fuck me--I had an AMAZING BIRTHDAY!!!! Thanks again for all of your birthday wishes on here. You guys helped make it all the more of a special occasion. :)

Ghostland Observatory was definitely the highlight of the weekend for me. I've always wanted to see them, and they blew me away playing on my birthday at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Part of the reason the show was so great was because the crowd was one of the most insane I've ever been a part of. The floor was shaking as people stomped and cheered for fifteen minutes at the break during the encore. It was immense.

Ghostland Observatory impressed me because A. They did a great funky dancy set which left people in trances in parts and had everyone grooving with amazing energy, and B. They were great showmen who carried that energy really well. I'd see them again at a moment's notice, and I definitely recommend checking them out live. Fucking awesome.

In fact, I'd have to say there were moments in their set that definitely reminded me of moments that I've had during Daft Punk & Simian Mobile Disco, where I looked up, realized the song was still going and I'd been grooving for a good ten minutes or so, or so it seemed, of course. Also, Ghostland Observatory uses many of the same synths that SMD uses, too, which made for some great recollections.

Anyway, God bless those two freaky folks who get up there and rock the stage, making people dance the night away.

Other than that, Portland was a really great time; I had some amazing food, and I love my girlfriend to death. Looking forward to hanging out with her at Halloween during Simian Mobile Disco and Soulwax. :D
