I just had a thought. It gets brought up a lot that with the music industry being what it is, bands have to tour and play a lot more live shows to make up for lacking music sales. If that's true, imagine for their next album seeing the Chemical Brothers live in your hometown. They're totally worth making a long trek to see live but I can't help but get excited at the thought of seeing them closer to home. It would also be a good chance to wrangle in friends who aren't into the Brothers as a lot of people here. Much love to Tom, Ed & e'erybody here.

Music sales dont do as well as they did back then, so I guess touring gives the end result of feast or famine.

I'm so freaking lucky to have the Chems play in my backyard for such a long time. If I was born and raised in another city or state, i probably would've been listening to some others 90's band that didn't have the successes that carried them into 2014 and beyond. For all I know, I could of lived in let's see.......Bozeman Montana (USA) for all I know, and I only would of known about the chems through tv and the internet, and would of been envious of at least getting a dj set over in my area, including not having any of my current chemical crapload of cd's, records, posters, etc. I do hope that Tom and Ed come to play in more cities, especially ones with a big buzz the next time they gig, and not in just cites where there's a small buzz and only half the tickets are sold. Then just one day prior to the event, the tickets are discounted just so they can sell the rest. Of course I'm no promoter, but I would really like the Chems to come to new cities and revisit some other ones as well (cough....2015...cough) And I tried to convert some friends into the Chems music, but it looks like they're sticking with their Bon Iver and Carrie Underwood!

I'm just disappointed that we had to fly through another year without a new album or new single. But then again, that's what the dry spell approaching thread is for! :-(

I couldn't quite make out what Tom said there. Did he mean it was way to expensive to tour the states or that it's quite "lucrative" to tour there?

I understood it is too expensive to tour America.

Seeing all their gear, their stage hands, those big trucks hauling all that stuff around, the logistics that go into booking gigs, hotels for them and their crew, transport, etc etc.. I can't imagine how costly the tour machine is. I'm definitely blessed in that I don't have to travel a long way to see the Chems as they've graciously included S. California on their tours. It would be nice to see them reach out to more cities, in more intimate settings. I'd love it if they were able to tour more extensively in the States but I wouldn't count on that happening. Given their favored touring in Europe and their playing the festival circuits - they are closer to home, there are more festivals to be had in close proximity. They have to go where it would be profitable and if they weren't in a place where several weeks-long tours of the states was a probability (when that interview was filmed) I doubt they suddenly have large chunks of time like that to spare now.

The 'pennyless' vid!

I think I put my 2 cents in this already, but this was years ago, and i'm pretty sure things have changed during these recent concert trends. If they can get their butts over here (usa) in 8+ cities, i'm sound as a pound!

I would imagine they need arena sized crowds to make a tour in America lucrative. They no longer want to do the nationwide grind at this phase in their lives, and I don't blame them.

I do hope they consider or have an opportunity to make a return to Red Rocks in Denver. I think a forum pilgrimage would be worth while.

What about *my* sweet asscheeks?

Seriously though--I know the feeling. That's why I drove down to Coachella in 2011. And 2009. And 2005. And to Los Angeles in 2007. And took a bus to New York from Washington D.C. in 2003. And flew to Barcelona in 2006. And flew to Amsterdam in 2007. And flew to London in 2008.

And that excludes the shows that I went to that were close to home. ;)

Redrocks! I remember still being in college seeing them & FatboySlim playing there tv back in 1999. Watching Skrillex's show from this summer has re-piqued interest in going there. It looks like such a beautiful venue. If they play, count me in!

Well I've followed them around Australia, Brisbane, Melbourne and then Sydney, and will do it again when they come back, but if they did a Red Rocks show, I would have to come to the US, that would be epic.

I'd be happier than Ron Swanson in a brewery if they toured anywhere in my state!

Seriously though it is happening this next year of touring. I don't care if I have to hitchhike to InChem's house to see their only US show in California, it's happening. Though I don't know how I feel about seeing them for the first time when it's not going to be a "them" on stage...

Speaking of Ron Swanson, I got to meet Nick Offerman about a month or two ago after his stand up show here at Purdue. Nice guy, firm handshake. Got him to sign a poster I nicked from one of the Convo boards on campus.
