so, I'm stranded at work in St. Paul for work, I've been here more than a week already, and won't get to go home for another week or so.

Last week, I was using the computer at the hotel, to print out some directions, and the thing was out of paper. So I called up the front desk and they brought some over. I put it in, and the thing starts printing out all these emails, from someone who was staying there, with, of all organizations, the Professional Puppeteers of America.... I thought this was absolutely hilarious, since, well, Being John Malkovich was probably the third funniest movie I'd ever seen, not to mention 'Team America'.

So a couple of days go by, and last night I was down at the hotel restaurant with a bunch of coworkers, and I was in front of the place having a smoke, when I see all these hippy looking people unloading a van into one of the conference rooms. So I was like, dude, are you here with the puppeteers? and this old hippy woman was like, 'YES! tonight were having a puppet slam! it's an adults only puppet show, featuring satire, political commentary, some racy things' and I was like, racy puppets!?!? I gotta go see this! and she was like, it's totally full, there's no room at all, and I was like, the racy puppets from Being John Malkovich were incredible, you have to let me in! and she was like, the head puppeteer from BJM is inside right now, his name's Phil Huber, you should go say hi to him. So I went in, and there were all this hippy types setting up a stage, so I was like, Hey, is Phil Huber in here? and at this point I should mention that I was quite stoned, because someone said 'I'm Phil Huber' and I was like, D00D! your work in BJM was amazing, it was the funniest movie ever, blah blah blah, babbling like a fan boy, and I guess there aren't a lot of puppet groupies, cuz the guy was really, really nice.

I went back to my table of coworkers, and one guy had a digital camera, and took my picture with the guy, which I will post shortly, but I still had no invite to the racy puppet show (and spinal tap) later on. I finished my dinner, and went upstairs to call Whirly and tell her about the racy puppet show.

I went upstairs, and just chilled out (smoked more dope), then I waited until about 30 minutes after the puppet show started, and just kinda slipped into the back of the room... it was incredibly bizarre, cuz there seemed to be about 400 people in the room, and they all seemed to know each other, but no one seemd to mind me being there... I got there right after one of the shows had finished, and while some guy with a giant Charlie Manson beard was announcing the next show... then they brought the puppets out.... I almost throttled myself trying not to laugh, cuz the room was silent, and everyone was so fucking serious about, of all things, a racy puppet show. I actually had to leave the room for a few minutes, then sneak back in... nothing I saw seemed particularly racy, but it was hilarious nonetheless... I hung out until midnight, hoping to meet up with some people and get invited to a puppet-after party, but I was far too stoned to negotiate the social aspect of puppeteering... bwah.

fucking weird times in the great white north.

You puppet party crasher, you. You should've done the Craig's Dance of Despair and Disillusionment, just to throw people off, you know... shake things up a bit.

I wish I could've been there.

oh, I forgot, on my way down to the puppets, I walked past a hotel room, and the chick in side was just getting NAILED, screaming her head off, like, "OH FUCK YEAH, YEAH GIVE IT TO ME, YEAH!"

So later when I came back upstairs, I walked past the same room, and there was this woman with her ear pressed against the door. I paused, and just looked at her, and she just sat there listening.

I was so tempted to go stand next to her, put my ear on the door and go, 'So, what are we listening to?'
