I'm just back from Amon Tobin Live, and I say Live, not DJ Set !!! It was his very first live set. He played his own tunes, and weird sounds. In fact, he only did one track known, and all the others were new tracks ! It sounded fucking good, especially with the great soundsystem...

Then it ended, and there were 2 or 3 persons going on the stage, just to see the gears, so I came on stage too, I first took a look at Pan Sonic gear, and then I came to see Amon Tobin's gear : an iMac, an iBook, his 2 Numark CDX (I think), his mixer, and some kind of touch screen, I didn't know what it was and what it was for :

Then i just turned back, and I saw Amon coming to me ! I said "Hello" and he asked me "how was it ? was it good ?"

I told him it was great. he seemed very anxious about this new kind of live. I asked if the tracks he did were from the upcoming album, and he replied that he was testing new things, and he said another thing that I didn't understand (unfortunately). Then I took a pic of him with me :

And then a technician asked the people who had nothing to do on the stage to leave...

Oh and here's a gift for you : a little video of a new track :

It was very sweet to speak to my idol, and to hear something really new. He surprised everybody !

Cool stuff, Ben! Glad you enjoyed his set, hopefully he'll feel more comfortable doing live gigs over time but you got to see the first (of many, let's hope)!

It's also nice of him to take the time to ask what you thought.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

the album Supermodified is a good start.

the soundtrack from Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is superb too, one of the best video game soundtracks IMO.

People, I've just realised that Amon Tobin put one of his new tunes in his latest sets. It's a very veryyyy sweet track, really. I think it's just a demo version and that it isn't finalised yet (at least, it doesn't seem to have as many sounds as an average Amon Tobin track)

Here's a link for you :)

I'm happy !

Why ?

Because Amon Tobin's next album finaly has a release date !

The next album is called "The Foley Room" it will come in February/March 2007.

Tracklist :

1. Bloodstone

2. Esther's [sample1][sample2]

3. Keep your distance

4. Vanilla's the killer

5. Kitchen sink

6. Horsefish

7. Foley room

8. Big furry head

9. Ever falling

10. Always

11. Straight psyche

12. At the end of the day

Yeah, 12 tracks, that's a lot, compared to a lot of albums nowadays...

And I have contacted Doubleclick, asked if some new tracks Amon plays in his sets are on the album, and mainly, he answered no, that means this guy has a lot of material (just like the chems ?)

Anyway, this is his 7th LP, it is coming with a making of DVD, showing Amon colecting sounds all over the world, sounds he used to make the tracks of this album.

Before the release, a digital single will be released in January:

1. Bloodstone

2. Esther's [sample1][sample2]

3. Here comes the moon man

I'm so excited ! Come on Tom & Ed ! Do the same ! We want a release date !

I know he already came here so yeah he may come back.

The good thing in Paris (and in France) is that Ninja Tune seem to love France and Paris (did I mention I saw Coldcut 5 times this year ? )

Hopefuly we'll have another free Amon Tobin live set in Paris this year...

hehehe, we had the chance to witness the ONLY Amon Tobin live set EVER ! ... And for free ! ButI think he mixed a part of his album at the GRM (Groupe de Recherche Musicale, Musical Research Group) who organized this mini-festival.

yeah I saw that few days ago. Very sick, yet it fits well the music. Precursor is probably the Amon Tobin track I dislike the most. Yet I like it anyway :P

Anyway to talk about the subject of the topic : Foley Room, Amon Tobin's 7th album is brilliant ! Buy it as soon as it is released !

You can already buy the digital single with 3 tracks : Bloodstone, Esther's and Here Comes the Moon Man (the 2 first are on the album, the 3rd is an extended version of a track from Taxidermia's OST)
