CB's music changed my life.

When you think of it from my perspective, the days of the mid and late 90's were THE BEST years EVER. There was Big Beat. I didn't even know about that untill i read it on the net, that it actually was called Big Beat, but I still got into Fatboy Slim and co. just by the sounds of it. But of course - Chems, they won't ever leave my heart.

To put it simply, it's just a matter of what you associate the music with, and I managed to squeeze Chems's music between the best period of my life. So what's the point of me writing all this? Well, you might consider me a fanboy, or a diehard fan, whatever the name is nowadays. Well, I don't, cause I like Chems music so much that I just don't want to gut the phenomenon by the urge of KNOWING IT ALL if you know what I mean.

The other thing is that If you, just like me, connect Chems with the best time of your life, their music will be the ultimate remedy for whatever bad happens in your life. And as I mentioned before, I'm here for a reason, and this is - THEY DID IT AGAIN. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than this, when I felt like a shitbag with no self confidence, hating everybody including myself, feeling like losing grip of who I am....I listened to Dig Your Own Hole.

And all of a sudden, I recalled of who I am, where I come from, what I always wanted to do, and most importantly - how the fuck I should make my life better.

Thanks The Chemical Brothers.

PS. I could go on and on about how all the aesthetics of their album covers blew my head away, how they used the samples, even how Live At Red Rocks documentary made me drool over it thinking 'man, you should be there and you know it....' but I'll spare some things for myself :) Well, unless you feel the same thing about them. So Chems - Thank You. Your music is part of my life and to take it away is to kill a BIG part of me. Cheers!

Hi Shem, thank you for sharing that with us!! I think for everyone here that has taken part of this forum along with many other fans, we can all relate to what you said.

I totally see what you mean, because music is one of the most pure forms of expression and what is beautiful is that it is so interactive, it can speak to you, it can speak for you when the words can't come right, and it has the power to change how you feel and open your ears and mind. It creates beautiful friendships because it can be enjoyed together, but it can also be the one constant thing in your life because it is there when you need it to see you through the tough times when you feel so alone. The Chemical Brothers have opened my ears and changed my perspective on a lot of things and I will always hold their music close to my heart. Some of my favorite moments in my life have been associated with the Chemical Brothers in some way, shape or form. These fond memories I can carry with me forever, along with new memories I hope to build - I will be eternally grateful for that.

And please, if you wish to talk about other aspects of the Chems - go right ahead. :) We're all pretty much family here and the welcome mat is out to anyone who digs the music! I think you will find there are quite a few of us who feel the same things as you do. Enjoy!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Hey Shem, thanks for sharing your Chemical experience with us. Yeah, I can totally understand what you mean, to me the Chems music is linked with lots of good memories. There's something about their songs that are unique; IMHO they are able to put life inside their songs.

So stick around, and keep posting. Cool people like you are always welcome here. :D

thanks for the warm welcome. actually i was planning just to leave that one post and never post again, because i just don't want to butcher all the chemical brothers things related, but i guess it won't do any harm to share some experience with you.

Remember that documentary on Red Rocks festival with Chems? THAT is what makes me smile. If you ever notice how the whole documentary is edited, if you notice all the red colors and the aesthetics...I think it fits chemicals perfectly. It's just crunchy, just like everything they do, dusty, and summertime-ish. This is what I associate Chems with. To add up to it, here's a little story I'd like to share with you:

When I was in my early teens I was going to the country side every once in a while. And to me - a kid growing up in a city - that was just a place where...you know, memories are born :) No cares, no problems, just chilling out. And at one time I just went straight into the field, I guess it was sunset, you know...just to kill some time. And as soon as I went into this vast field, looking under my feet (probably to check if I don't step in some cow's crap) I looked up and there it was - The Perfect Summer Field. Perfect sky, sunset, and this view. Man, it was just imprinted onto my brain just like that, like a picture, hardwired for good. If you see such things and you actually manage to notice them you're like 'oh....wow.....' and you stare at it for 10 minutes straight.

And believe it or not, this is what happened to me when I saw that documentary on Red Rocks Festival, exactly the same thing, especially when I saw Tom & Ed talking about the scenery of Red Rocks. Instant flashback, and it's like honey for your mind.

This of course was not the start of how I started to sink into The Chemical Brothers, it started much earlier, but when all good things come together, then....oh man, you can't help but smile all the way :)

Welcome Shem, way to break down the door and open up with a great post! If you're a hugh chems fan then you're going to find it hard to leave after a while and I wouldn't bother trying. Some of us have been on this forum for more than 5 years...

My first impression was that this was going to be spam. I was thinking before I clicked on it, Hmm spambot's got guts...

I was gladly mistaken, so yeah, fuck, cool first post must say. I can kind of relate to what ya mean I turn to Chem's when I'm in doubt about most things.

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.
