My legs are so fucked i can't walk. It was this HUGE rave in the Amsterdam Arena wich is the footballstadium of Ajax.

20.000 people i think. But could be more. The music was really rave music but HARD really hard but i loved it offcourse hahaha. I usually wouldn't cause there's not enough melodie in it. So yeah after 8 hours non stop die hard dancing my legs just want to rest!!!



Oh , and i heard the sample " Rock the house in!" Ha!

heh. I'm toasty right now. Sun-crisped toasty. Too much ultraviolet. Sunburn galore despite copious amounts of sunscreen. My scalp may not recover. :)



A very nice weekend. Sorry my phone crapped out by Saturday afternoon and though I had a backup, it sucked horribly.



Made it out to the Festie late Thursday afternoon, humped all my gear (mostly water and alcohol) to my friends' camp, bought a quarter of weed from some buddies camped nearby, and proceeded to get rather drunk and stoned. Headed down to the Festival site and caught a couple acts, though mostly I ate Sri Lankan East Rolls and napped in the grass. Upon recovery, met up with another group of friends (my clubbing girls rather than pubbing mates) and got paralytic before crashing in their tent at a late hour. Walked back to my tent at 8 AM, caught one more hour of sleep before getting up and getting Friday morning underway.



A quick breakfast of granola bars, bacon, beer, and some hash we randomly came across got Friday kicked off the right way and I was well paralytic by noon-time. Finished off the alcohol that was supposed to last me the entire weekend by 4 PM Friday afternoon. D'oh! :( Although I really did enjoy the 3 litres of vodka and Crystal Light I mixed up in a collapsible jug.



Tried to meet up with the friends I was camping with, but they didn't have cellphones with them, so I met up with my clubbing mates instead. Night was fast approaching, so we headed down to the Festival, caught this wicked band called Low that was recommended to us by a co-worker we ran into.



And then we dropped our pills and headed about looking for fun. My one friend's boyfriend has a strong dislike for drugs and they got into a bit of an argument before he ate a pill (his first time ever) just to spite her. Needless to say he had one of the best nights of his life; so much so he asked me for a second a few hours later. :) I really like him and we bonded a lot. Hung out at Pope's Hill for much of the evening (the hill in the Park which the Pope had delivered a sermon from almost 30 years ago) where a communal drum-circle/fireworks/rave- sort of thing was breaking out. The four of us split up around 3:30 AM, with the couple retiring to the tent for some abortive sexual attempts and Cathy and I going for a walk and watching the sun come up. Hooked up a raving friend with some pills and hung out for a while, before meeting back up with the other two at their tent around 6:30 AM. We just sat up and chatted and pulled an all-nighter. Amazing night.



Eventually went back to my campsite and we organized a trip to the beach. Unfortunately the friends I'd spent the previous night with had indulged in some pot-cookies in the late morning and were absolutely fucked up out of their boxes and spent most of the day not having very much fun. Knew one of the girls at the beer tent, so I enjoyed a couple free beers. Nice.



Saturday night was supposed to be the big party night of the Festival, but the temperature dropped in about 3 hours from nearly +40 Celsius to about +8 with 60 km/hr winds. It was absolutely frozen and no one seemed to have much stamina for a party. My clubbing friends were still fucked and my drinking friends weren't being a whole lot of fun. Hit the beer bong for some funnel action and got primed to head out for some debauchery. I happened upon a couple grams of mushrooms for free a while later and ate those, but my party vibe was quickly slipping and I didn't eat the rest of my pills. Had the opportunity to get some acid earlier in the day but decided against it.



By 2 AM, Pope's Hill was getting ridiculously crazy. A rave was breaking out again and there were Chinese New Years Dragons going around 15 feet long made of glowsticks, and near-naked people dressed as Roman centurions covered in glowing body paint, despite the freezing weather.



Eventually headed back to the campsite and sat by the fire, just hanging out with everyone for a bit. We got attacked by ninjas though (no, this was not a drug-induced hallucination). There were a group of four or five people dressed completely in black ninja robes with replica swords that were stalking campsites and trying to freak out people on drugs. Kept my composure thankfully. :)



It started raining around 3:30 AM so I retired to my tent, which, unfortunately, the zipper on the outside flap had broken, so I had no way of keeping the rain out of my tent. I was a bit dispirited at this point, feeling a bit lonely and down. Should've smoked some pot to kick the mushies in harder, but it was too cold, so I went to sleep around 4 AM.



Was still the first one up around 9 AM and I decided I was going to head home at some point on Sunday instead of sticking it out until Monday. Packed up all my gear and was just getting ready to start reading by the fire when everyone started getting up. Went over to my clubbing friends campsite because they promised me pancakes (and didn't disappoint!). Kinda just wandered back and forth between the two sites, hanging out for a bit. Had a couple beers and eventually decided around 4 PM it was time to go home. Came home, had a nap and spent time with my girlfriend, catching up and grabbing some dinner. Watched Office Space, made love, and went to bed for a nice end to an interesting weekend.



Sorry for an ultra-long post, but that covers the previous four days and nights. Caught a total of about 10 hours of sleep over the three days of the festival and had only spent about 1 hour in my tent over the first 2.5 nights. heh.

So, yeah, an executive summary, I guess.



Rocking:



Drunk and stoned. A lot. Yeah.

Friday night/Saturday morning pilling and thrilling. So much fun with some really close friends. Really special night for me.

Poor Saturday night with freezing weather. The only people partying were people so fucked on drugs they even scared me a bit.

Finally, my clubbing friends are now taking the time to get their shit a bit better together and have said they're not going to be pilling anymore. The selfish part of me is sad about that because I've had some of the best nights of my life with those girls this past year, but I know it's probably a really good decision. I think I myself am going to take a good solid break and though I'll probably indulge on the very rare occasion, that I may be done with the scene for some time. I think I'll feel too nostalgic and lonely without the two of them. Good memories, though. :D

I think that the next time this happens I need to be in canada.

You're more than welcome to come up here next year, dude. Festival happens every year around the first week or two of July.



I wasn't as fussed with most of the music as I might have expected, but it was a really good time.



Dirt cheap, too. Early bird passes for the four days of Festival + camping came to $140 Canadian total, incl. all taxes. Drugs were cheap (got a really good deal on pills: 12 for $100, mushies I got a little for free, weed was pretty cheap: quarter for $55). Food was reasonably priced.



The best part was no mosquitos at all. Manitoba is absolutely rife with mosquitos all summer and so I loaded up on so many anti-insect products (spray, towlettes, coils, wristbands, etc.) and I didn't have to use any of it at all.



You'd look up at the sky and see fleets of dragonflys hunting the insects down. It looked like the squadron of helicopters from Apocalypse Now so much so I could practically hear 'Ride of the Valkyries' playing. :)
