How is comparing George W. Bush to a Nazi intelligent?

It's not very intelligent, it's an easy route to show your dislike for something. It takes effort and knowledge to post something like this:

Though you may not agree with his actions, comparing him to a political party that supported ethnic cleansing, racial sovereignty, was focused on world domination, and in the end killed 11 million people is a bit off. Maybe this is what you call an intelligent conversation, but not me. I've seen loads of these extremist views in protests. Many young people jump on the protesting bandwagon because at a young age young people always seem to have perception that there is great injustice happening to them and everywhere. In many recent protests, I have seen many people saying President Bush and Vice-President Cheney are Nazi's, saying he's a baby killer, and other such messages. All this is, is name calling. It shows that these people cannot objectively analyze President Bush's actions. In a protest, the people are suppose to voice the policies they are against and what types of policies they want implemented, not resort to childish name calling. [/quote]

im a bit tired right now so forgive me if i ramble a little bit!

Whirlygirl; you are very right in all you have said. the swastika being wrong is to illustrate that bush is "some what" of a right wing extremist. the term nazi is just one form of right wing thinking.

the upside down flag is indeed the international signal for distress for america, still being used i think. and i believe it is a federal offence for a "civillian" to do it.

and the fuck bush, well it speaks for itself!!

like i said, i didn't design the pic, just picked it up.

*sigh* I remember a time not too long ago when someone was telling paulieslim to get rid of their bouncing boob sig because they thought it was totally inappropriate and tacky... possibly suggesting it was offensive? ;)

So what's the line here, where do we draw it? Is a pair of fake bouncing tits more offensive or just as offensive or less offensive than a defaced American flag? Or in SelfExcel's case, giant gorilla that takes up a quarter of the page?

Just some thoughts I was thinking about...

This is true - it is "against the law" but usually people won't get arrested if they hang the flag upside down, like on a car or at a protest, for example. I think in this day and age it is more of an etiquette issue than anything else. I think flag waving laws vary from state-to-state, but general etiquette, or rules, applies throughout.

This is an insightful, brief read for those that are unawares (there are tons of them besides this, it was the first one in my search) regarding etiquette as it pertains to the American flag:

On a lighter note, in California if you want to fly a skull & crossbones, especially if it's in front of your business, you have to get special clearance to do so.

I think I was one of the first people to put a picture on their sig so it seemed big but it was not.

I think the real problem is when people say or represent things without thinking about them, specially when they are nagative.

And about preferring breasts to politics - it's easier for me to talk about politics with men than it is to talk about cha-chas!

For me it's just the other way around, but for obvious reasons I guess. Although our politics talk remains on a rather high level, though...
