Instead of trying to fall asleep - try to stay awake.

To this day I'm still an early riser - it's instinct more than choice - unless I've been out all night on the rare occasion. I'm also one of those people who, once I'm awake, it's so difficult for me to simply fall back asleep. After the mindless grind of the workweek, I find myself fatigued on weekends. What helps me is I take time to nap either Saturday or Sunday afternoon just for a couple of hours. Maybe 4 hours at the very very most. Sometimes I'll nap a little both days. I think napping is healthy because it allows you to recharge and refresh and I think it does a body good and helps your inner clock regulate sleep naturally. These little weekender disco naps help tremendously not only to stay awake and focused when I need to during my weekdays, but allow my body to simply catch up so I can have a relatively normal sleep schedule during the week.

Yes! I too heartily endorse the power nap!

Once I'm up, I just want to go, go, go all day until it's time to sleep again. That's my personality. I can take naps, I just don't like to.

Consumer - If I try to stay awake, I'll go to bed somewhere between 6 - 8 am. That's not too good if I have to be at work by 6:30 am. Last night I went to bed at 5 ish, after drinking.... and woke up around noon today. That's pretty normal for me if my body falls into its own pattern.
