but one thing pisses me off - and that is that new member equinoxe24
coming here, asking stupid questions - fine. i will try my best to answer them if that helps him. i've had questions as well that i wanted to be answered and maybe other members weren't sure about me being serious asking them.
equinoxe, starting stupid threads, asking for the worst work ever by tom and ed, moaning about exit planet dust, surrender and come with us, ripping illegal copies of the new album and rubbish the whole new work.
then, he's just like... hooray, i was one of the first havin PTB and look what stuff i've got and, btw, that was my UNCLE on the test blablabla.
and then, he is that narrow-minded to love DYOH only. i don't want to say DYOH is better than all other chemical brothers work (swiss tnzer is right - albums being that different maybe should not be compared to each other) but for me, it is the one i like most. same with equinoxe but he only loves DYOH, doesn't like the other stuff... makes me :x
equinoxe should shut up and get away from this forum - or posting less and more intelligent things. this is a CHEMICAL BROTHERS FAN FORUM, we are all massive supporters of the brothers here, lovin' their music. and for some of us -like me-, the chemical brothers changed their little worlds a lot. it's a shame that some guy like equinoxe is a member in here as well as he, obviously, is totally different from the other members as he doesn't really like the chemical brothers but only DYOH.
not sure whether i should be angry or sad about that...

I think equinoxe is perfectly entitled to state his opinions on this forum, just as all you guys would...Theres no need for this bitching...You seem to be the girls who keep complaining all the time...just leave him...were all mates here...well most of us
you would have a point if euinoxe actually backed his statements up and made logical points.

Galvanize rap?
As I said in one of my other posts, for the first second I listened I thought it was rap, but some seconds after I got that it was electronica and not rap.
And I agree, I don't like Left Right at all.
I would scratch the CD so it can jump to the next track without playing this one. :P

Great Read!
Anyway, It's time for me to confess that It took me a while to get use to PTB. I remember buying it when it first came out and then when I finished listening to it, I let the CD collect dust for a good 2 weeks at least.
I went back to it for another listen later on, and now I feel that this is the Chems most difficult album that they put together. There is such an array of sounds on each track and you have to study this album with lots of eartime to appreciate its craft. Galvanize, Left Right, Shake Break Bounce, took me years just to understand its complexity and why the bros choose to change up their style in an album,in my opinion, sounds like a world album because of its multicultural and diversity of the tracks.

I've been avoiding my responsibilities today by escaping to my favorite place on the 'net (yeah, this place), having my morning cup of coffee (yeah, I woke up not too long ago) and it's been interesting to take this little written trip through time.
I totally remember this thread. I remember how angry I was. I remember how angry chemicalfan was comparing death camps to not liking Push The Button. This was before stash and I went to the UK and first met up with some of the forumites.
But I also remember equinoxe eventually came around. He was all right a guy, actually. He was so looking forward to seeing the Chems but their show in Poland got cancelled. I felt bad for him. I think if he'd had the chance to see the Chems during the Push The Button tour, had a chance to hear how the songs were played out live - the experience might not have made him think "gee this album really is their #1!!" but seeing it played out live would have shifted his perception. I really believe that. I wonder what happened to equinoxe?
Anyway, this thread was resurrected and I think it's good. I've been doing a lot of personal reflection lately and that includes rummaging a bit through my past to see how I've arrived to the place where I'm at now. Such a large part of my recent past involves not just this place but more importantly the music. It's been a very long time since I've listened to Push The Button, and I think it's time to revisit that album. Thanks for lifting this thread from the ashes, inchem. :)

PTB is, indeed, my least-listened-to Chems' album. But man, it has some -amazing- tracks on there alongside the ones I don't think are, well, as amazing.
The live set absolutely benefited from adding in Believe (a MONSTER, EPIC F*CKING MOMENT LIVE!!!) and while I was initially disappointed that they replaced The Sunshine Underground with Surface to Air after the first break, STA is just an awesome track nonetheless and every time I put it on it sets me at ease.

There were many great songs from PTB and the singles. At first I didn't understand Believe, but it turns out that that is certainly my favorite song off the album. Rize Up and EBW7 are also just amazing tracks from PTB singles. I like Galvenize just for those people who only listen to Hip-hop... and Left Right for that matter. I remember Left Right creating much controversy, but I thought the Lyrics were meaningful and full of imagery, and the sounds in it were quite good too. STA, The Boxer, and Come Inside are pretty great too. I liked SBB and Marvo Ging at first, but they didn't grow, and rather they're value to me sort of decayed... I can enjoy them at arbitrary times, but repeated listens do not suit me.
Anyways, it was a pretty solid album, though for me it had much more immediate appeal than appeal through acquired taste... and it could be argued that the latter is superior.

Having (also?) listened to PTB recently I still think its a great album. I was the same as Profunk with Believe, wasn't quite sure at first but then I heard it live...
I've always liked Left Right and Marvo Ging, LR quite a cool and funky track and as Profunk said great lyrics.
Hold Tight London is an incredibly soaring and beautiful track for me, blows me away every time.

Singing Shake Break Bounce loud an proud like a chems-dork will change your life. Very therapeutic. 'nuff said...
actually not. I love PTB, but for some reason, perhaps because it is really eclectic, even for the chems standards, I find it harder to listed to the whole album than say WATN where if I'm in the mood to listen to one track, I'll probably be down for them all. I think if the track order was different or some more songs (and the B-side were amazing for that album) were put on to the album to give it more transition. But because the wide array of songs I think it also speaks very highly of how much creativity was going on when they were writing the album.

A funny tidbit about albums you haven't listened to in awhile, to lighten the mood...
... a week ago, after not listening to WATN for some time, my son got into the car, and said "Dad, can we hear that fish song?" -- I had to think for a minute, and go "Fish song? Huh?" so he goes "You know, where he goes 'What it do!'"
I laughed my ass off and had it playing for him toute suite.
