I've just checked to book my tickets for Manchester and the only tickets I can get is seated ones :-(

Is there anyway if i bought them I could slip down to the standing area?

Jump!!! They are pretty shit hot at the Apollo so you may have to stay in the balcony. Shame as well as Apollo is great venue when your standing.

Mips had a great invention for this problem. it worked fantastic at Brixton. Some of us had standing tix, some seated. The one with standing tix went in the standing area, like 4 people, one would go back with the others peeps standing tix, and give them to the ones with seated tix.

It worked great!

Man I hope that works. The only other option I have is to go to the Liverpool show. I've been to the Apollo before to see Bloc Party and it was bouncing. Whats the Liverpool venue like?

Tried that for the Killers and they just take tkts of you sometimes now and hand them out to people who want them at the end of the gig.

A big warehouse like shed at Aintree where they have the Grand National. No doubt not a patch on the Apollo which is a brilliant venue. But at the end of the day it is all standing and thats the important thing. And Simian Mobile Disco which is a bonus.

Last night was the first Chemical Brothers gig that I had been to, and what an experience it was!

The visuals were awesome to say the least

An otherwise flawless set apart from a small technical hitch towards the end, something to do with the Apollo's electrical supply I think!

If anyone has the set list of last nights concert, I'd love to see it, plus the names of any of the tracks the DJ played before the set or after Simian Mobile Disco finished their support slot - Thanks.

Song of the night for me had to be Star Guitar

Yeah it was pretty good mate!

Not sure of the setlist at the mo but will try and remember for you (shame irishfan didn't go as he would have it on here already!).

Tom and Ed seemed to race through the tracks at breakneck speed, especially in the first half hour - I suppose there's a lot to fit in nowadays! Love the new visuals, I think the big screen works much better than the smaller screens from the PTB tour. They've even made the clown even creepier, now with crooked yellow teeth! The exploding paintballs for EBW8 were awesome! Managed to get a good video of it on my camera. Really enjoyed WATN live and Das Spiegel was funny with Tom playing the...what was the instrument called?

And its official...Manchester Apollo doesn't like Nude Night! On the breakdown, after the loud bass sound has come in...all goes silent with Tom making frustrated gestures towards the crowd. A couple of minutes later they tried again with Nude Night but the power cut out - on the same part! About 10 minutes went by, then an announcement came out about the power being 'resumed' so Tom and Ed came back on and went straight to another track...BRB I think. I reckon due to the problems there wasn't time for an encore which was a shame.

Would write more but the whole thing hasn't quite come to me yet, not sure why. Could be because I've never being in Standing in the Apollo before and the sheer number of tracks played.

Anyway, some pics:

Lastly, big thanks to Tyler for the company and lift home!

EDIT: currently trying to get the photos to show up, the same thing worked last time! >:(

EDIT: Dunno why they won't work, can anyone help?

first time on the boards, long time chems fan

gig last night was a bit hit and miss, i almost think it was an experimental gig for the rest of the UK (never good being first!)

the bros kept on building only to knock it down again, towards the end they picked up the baton but i did leave feeling a bit "what if"

block rockin beats was worth the entrance fee alone mind!

maybe im just getting too old?

they should do a chems classics tour and a new stuff tour!

Letsee - loss of power in Denver, KOKO and now Madchester. Next thing you know, Tom and Ed are going amass a power so great, they will not only blow out the electricity at their own gigs but they'll be taking out entire city blocks as well.

A real drag about the lackluster response to Nude Night, then again there will be other shows to make up for it!

Thanks for the reviews (and the pics marsh - I'm so happy you got to see the Chems! ) Now where's Tyler?

Think Tom and Ed need to get some hippie energy efficient synthesizers. Yeah I could see smoke coming out of the Jupiter 6, that explained the smog I saw in LA :x

Chime - For tracklist have a look at GreySquire's review of the Glasgow gig, seems pretty accurate.

Nice pics McMarsh, whats this bout tech probs?? Nightmare, was a great encore at Birmingham, although, just after Chemical Beats there was a mighty long break, and the tech guys were on hand doing there thing, the lights came on, and it was like, 'oh no'...but luckily we got an amazing en-core, 4 songs. sorry to rub it in :-(

My life is a boat, being blown by you. With nothing ahead, just the deepest blue... To me you're like a setting sun. You rise then you're gone.

Yeah, reading the reviews of Glasgow and Birmingham sounds like us in Manchester got a bit of a rough deal. Not Tom and Ed's fault, but leaves me a little pissed off tbh.
