@whirly, Thanks for the Yoga tip. I have had a few friends talk to me about doing Yoga (mostly Female) and they are winning me over. I know I have tried some of the Wii Fit Yoga stuff (I know, sad excuse) and I have liked it so far.
Also, YAHHHHH!!!! 1up new house for the mother and father superior. Boo on moving the standup piano (but yah for owning it).
@Pooter, DOUBLE YAHHHHH!!! Underworld! Still tied for my top show of last year (Gogol Bordello 3 hours later is the other part of the tie). Hopefully they are still doing the old video game segues between songs. That's my affinity for Space Invaders coming out again.
Other part of YAHHHH!!!! is for another 1up on new lodgings!
@Jittem, but now that you mention it the herb is so tempting! lol. it's like a hotel in Japan when I was first there that had a sign that said...
"Please Refrain from Smoking Bed"
After that me and my cousin were so tempted to do it.
Reality is that I don't smoke up. So at least I am keeping the weight off that way.

@ whirly maybe the move is a fresh start you need after the last year, even though it isn't that much of a move physically. Good news about the better school for Connor out of the move though.
for me usual work stuff, maybe a few more redundancies in my work which is making the last weeks uncomfortable. But things will sort themselves out, off to oslo on wednesady for http://www.oyafestivalen.com/ so need the holiday haven't taken one in a year.

Just back in from seeing U2. I know they divide a lot of people, but the current show/set up is something to see - the "claw" is very impressive. Best of all - not too much pontificating from Bono!
Pretty good set - with Unforgettable Fire, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Pride, took the wife and I back to being teenagers in school!
If you get the chance to see any of the gigs on this tour (N America over next few months) I'd recommend it. Can think of many worse ways of spending an evening!

Oooh U2! Pretty big fan here... I'm so glad they are keeping some of their classics in their set. Pride is a live anthem, so fantastic in concert. Nothing like hearing thousands upon thousands of audience voices singing the chorus in unison.
They are one of the best live acts out there, period. The first time (and my first concert) I saw them was in 1985 and last time I saw them was in 2005. Bono can be a wordy bombastic man on stage - which drew criticism from fans during the last tour who wanted him to shut up and sing - but the tightness of U2's overall musicianship as a band and the delivery both musically and visually are always top notch. Whether anyone is a fan or not there's no denying that U2 are fricken good at what they do. I would love to see them again as I too can think of worse ways to spend an evening!

Blah.
I have the blahs today. I've had the blahs all week. I have zero motivation to pack the remainder of my belongings. We move on the 31st and I want everything ready for the movers so the only thing I need to worry about is dismantling my 50 gallon aquarium and transporting my tropical fish the day of. But damn. I'm one of those obsessive compulsive types where everything has to be in its place and everything in my house has to be just so or it drives me insane. And it's not like that right now. Boxes are everywhere and there's no use trying to keep everything clean like I'm used to because it keeps getting dirty and disheveled from packing and sorting. I usually work from home 2 days a week - but I opted to go into the office full time this week and next because it just drives me batshit to have to look at the clutter and I can't focus as well as I'd like.
Although necessary and even though I am looking forward to the fresh start and redecorating my new digs (yay!) - moving is such an upheaval. I keep wondering in my mind's eye where all my stuff is going to go. I also find myself stalling. I'll go to pack something and will see a bunch of photos stacked away that I haven't looked at in years and years. Then I'll look at the photos and get all nostalgic and the next thing I know 3 hours have gone by and I'm asking myself - literally - where all the time has gone.
The cool thing is I found my old Surrender mouse pad. I thought that thing was lost forever.
Can't wait to get this done and over with!
Posted 21 August 2009 - 1:39 AM
LoL - I need a mousepad, and I'd LOVE to have a Surrender mousepad!!!!
I'll be in the same place this next week and a half. I think I might have to end up moving on a Tuesday night--something I'm not looking forward to doing, but oh well.
I'm also focusing on the idea that the next month and a half of my life are going to be very boring. The LSAT is less than six weeks away, and I need to start really putting my energy into it. Fuck.
Lots of love to you all, especially you, Whirls. That can't be fun moving your life after residing in one place so long. For me, it's not bad, to be honest. But for you, I start to imagine how overwhelming it is and start to get tired.
My best to you, Stash and Connor! :) Best of luck.

ahhhh moving is a love hate thing for me. My family has always moved houses from city to country etc. Keeps things fresh i guess lol. My mum recently got a house right across from the Australian National University, which will make things easy.
I hope its as smooth a transition as possible for u whirly as well as stash and connor. I bet Connor is excited about it all
good luck with exams MadPooter. Similarly im about to do the AST, which is the final school exams before finishing school. Just remember man, coffee and more coffee in your upcoming weeks!
btw new WoW expansion announced. Although i don't play it myself anymore, i thought i'd let you all know :)
Have a good week everyone!

I took 40mg oxycodone today, guys. About half dissolved in water, about half just floating. What does that mean? It means that at 4:30 it hit me uber-hard and now, at 8:09 it's hitting me uber-hard again. Fucking fuck. Great shit. Listening to "Kish Kash" by Basement Jaxx. Plus I'm starting a doom metal band with the guy I jammed with today.
Today fucking ruled for the first day back at school.

Back to work tomorrow! Not really excited to go back.
Since the Chems won't have anything proper till at least next year, I've been listening to alot of my old hip-hop and R&B to kill for time. As for myself, I'm more into focusing of what I can do before 2009 ends. I'm already looking for a new job and i'm considering on going back to school (my roommate is saying across the hall 'Are you crazy') and hopefully my mindset will once again be on more peaceful levels.
@xdank
I envy your youth!

I ended up taking longer to move this time than at any other point in my life, seemingly. How did I end up with all of this crap!?!?!!?!?!
It took me a total of 24 hours to move, and not, like, you start moving one day, sleep, and then finish the next. Like, three days, collectively, twenty four waking hours of gathering, sorting, moving, hauling, throwing away and cleaning.
Jesus.
Whirly, are you alive? Love for you. I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now. I really can't, because if I had to move an entire apartment where I'd spent nearly a decade...
Posted 01 September 2009 - 7:05 PM
Epsom Salt bath perhaps! Good for muscle relaxing and relieving tension while getting rid of all the toxins from your body. Great for those who are done with a move .
At least a good 15 to 20 percent of the stuff you move has to stay behind. It's too much to carry everything. Even if you do take it with you, you just have extra stuff that takes up space. I usually would have a garage sale before or after the move, then use that cash to buy some new stuff like furniture, or whatever you need to pimp out your pad. Or just put your unwanted shit on Craigslist! Like they say..Someone else's crap is someone else's treasure!
...Meanwhile, somewhere in LA!
It's like my entire city is being punished with all this insanely hot weather. I can barely see the smoke form the forest where these fires are coming from. I'm pretty good with the fluids and stuff so i'm just keeping my self busy today with some small errands and enjoying a day off work.
Nice to see you guys still active as always on the forum!

Damn Pooter!
I feel your pain. So much so, I'm about ready to head out to the jacuzzi and soak my aching bones.
It was a hard move but we did it. We moved our kitchen on Saturday, moved a few dozen boxes on the television on Sunday and had the most awesome team of movers haul all of our heavy furniture on Monday.
I am 99.99% unpacked as of today - I am obsessive compulsive like that.
I am SO glad it's over.
Posted 03 September 2009 - 5:39 PM
I finally slept on my bed last night. I had the kitchen table in my room because upon move in, there was no room in the kitchen to put the kitchen table in there because my roommates were doing some kitchen renovation.
Last night, though, I managed to make enough space in my room to set up my bed, and it felt amazing to lay down in it.
Whirls--how's the new space? Mine is absolutely FANTASTIIIIIIC! Aw, man, I seriously want everyone to come up and hang out. If ANYONE is in the San Francisco area, come over the Haight St. and we'll hang. YEAH!
Posted 03 September 2009 - 10:58 PM
Woohoo - party at Pooter's!!! It's a Pooter Party!
Now that we've moved and our monthly finances will be more manageable, we might actually be able to use our money for other things - stuff like, you know, little road trips here and there. Nothing too extravagant because our budget is really tight and we can no longer attempt to live outside our means - but little trips to the Bay area and Joshua Tree hopefully are in our future. We were quite literally being strangled by our rent and all the costs (like our $450 electric bill) plus water and trash were murdering us. Living for your rent is not living at all, in my opinion. But enough of that. We already love our new place a ton so of course if anyone ever finds themselves behind the Orange Curtain, the welcome matt is always out and I'll make sure the sheets and towels are fluffed and ready for you to use.

but seriously, it's good to hear you have both settled in and are enjoying your new location.

meanwhile in downtown canberra...(sigh)
i just finished my AST's (which is the national exams for year 12). This means i've pretty much completed all of my important assessment. I've got one term left but im only doing 3 classes instead of 6. so things are calming down for me :D
i hope you have a good weekend everyone. Pooter, get some sleep this weekend k?
