No mention on this thread of them headlining this year's Wireless Festival on Saturday (http://www.wirelessf...uk/2011/lineup/)
Only just found out about this myself, I'm thinking about it....

The Pumisher, Krisper and I became fans of the Chems after seeing them in a festival, so it IS a great experience, no counterargument possible.

I haven't expressed doubts here that festival gigs were not a great experience - but having experienced both festival gigs and indoor gigs in larger and smaller venues, it is not the same and yes, indoor gigs are a different experience of a different quality IMO. many of us here say roundhouse was their biggest and best chems live experience. loads of us have expressed concerns/worries/sadness in case the reel was not played or no encore at all which is likely to happen at festival gigs. also, some festival might fit the chems perfectly well, others do less, with a corresponding impact on people.

so, festival gigs are great and you can have a fantastic experience there (and ice cream), still indoor gigs are on another level.
love is all.

festival gigs don't really count as most probably those will miss the reel/encore.

Well I am glad for you that you have seen the Chems in all venues. All of us should be so fortunate. :) But the fact remains this statement above was what I was originally arguing against. Saying Festival gigs don't count is (quite frankly) not a very well thought out thing to say in terms of, oh I don't know. A World Tour. And it's a slap in the face to the Chems and their crew and their fans. IMO.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Anyway my excuse for an argument still stands but I was too snarky up there in that post up there, and that wasn't cool and I hate any hard feelings..

Love is all (even if it's in festival form, hehe)

My first chemical gig was at a festival which was the Big Day Out 00' the first time they toured in OZ. They headlined the dance tent known as the boiler room and did an epic encore with leave home and the reel (00/surrender tour version to be precise) and I felt spoilt they did an encore as usually the other big acts on the main stage dont' usually do an encore or have time but the chems finished last at the festival after the main stages had started closing down. It felt like they gave there all at that gig and that was at a festival! Things may have changed now for festivals I dont know or it just might depend on the festival and how it is organised.
Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.

I can say that the poorest Chems gig I've experienced was outdoors but not at a festival. It was a stand alone show at Marley Park,Dublin.Best show I seen them do was also outdoors AND at a festival, Electric Picnic. And that's having seen them indoors six times.

Surely if there is to be a UK tour this year it must have to be announced soon. Looking at the calendar for Brixton Academy towards the end of the year and there is'nt many weekend slots left; Plastikman just added for Friday 2nd Dec.
