that has got to be his worst track yet......please chems do better than this shit!
I think this track is really good. Not revolutionary but really fun to listen to. When it's Chems Vs. Fatboy I do think the Chems are better but Norman can make quality tracks too! I just think the two acts approach making slightly similar music in very different ways.

Fatboy always tries to sound commercial and cheesy... That's his only problem.
I don't think this does sound commercial and cheesy, I mean there really isn't any song that sounds like this one already is there? Fair enough it is not the most serious of tracks but I think it's just a cool two minute song and is just a bit of fun! If you want some more of his better and more unique tracks then have a listen to Demons/Song for Shelter/Drop the Hate/Everybody needs a 303/Santa Cruz.

I got a promo of The Joker (with Bootsy Collins) today. It's a fun, summertime track and not a bad cover at all.
I think Fatboy is good at what he does. His music is very commercial to the brink of being cheesy, and I really don't think he's made any bones about it. He makes fun music, something to shake your booty to on the dancefloor. I'm fine with that, and his music has a place in my life. When I listen to him, I'm not trying to read into a deeper message and I'm not searching for anything groundbreaking - I have the Chemical Brothers for that. ;) His music is a Saturday night out. Big fat beats, that's Norman Cook for you. It's just good, fun listening - simple as that.
;-) Now here's this:

that gutter and the stars spoof cover is great.
I like fatboy slims music. I thought song for shelter was kind deep. It's the essense of every person who's pationate about our music.
I like Song For Shelter too. It was a grower for me, and yes, you're right, it does have a deeper message than I let on. What I like is the vibe of Song for Shelter. What I get from the song, how I read it is it's an homage to that feeling of surrender you get when you're having a good night out, in a club, just letting go and having the music take you somewhere and really getting something good from it - and being amongst people who feel the same way. Whenever I hear Song For Shelter, I think "I really would love to go out dancing!"

little known fact
i think the reason why song for shelter is named what it is named. is because norman found that whole accpella vocal on a 12" by roland clark. the tune its self is called 'i get deep' and it came out on the shelter label!! if you think the lyrics are great and deep they are. but they had nothing to do with norman, this track was not a collaboration. he just got lucky going through records. but that his genious is suppose.
shelter is a bit of an institution, as well as a record label it is also new york's longest running night club. although i went to the club as part of my pilgramage of house music in new york. i wasn't that impressed by the club, far too soulful for my liking.

well i think better living through chemistry is a great album. but it was downhill from there. i was bored by fatboy by 1999.
i hate the thinking if you like the chems you like fatboy, cos that aint true. norman is a genius, but not my cuppa tea.
