Jeanie, I honestly think that AKG K 26 P would serve you best. They're headphones, not earphones, but they are pretty small and foldable. They look pretty cool, are comfortable, and are by far the best sounding ones available at the price of like $40, though despite the cheapness AKG is still a trusted brand of professional audio equipment. Most of my friend think they're like $150 headphones... They have a more than full frequency range and great sound. My first pair only lasted for around 6 months, but as they're $40 it's no big deal and I quickly bought another with the warranty.

(my hair manages to hide them pretty well. i guess yours would too)

well, I use earphones mad by a company called "Skull Candy", they have special rubber things that make it so that no one else can hear it, and its the only thing you can hear (no outside noise), theres only one model so....

I have the Bose Queit Comfort 3 headphones and they rock. the only requirement of Jeanie's they don't succeed in, is the price though. Bose is the best in sound, so they're a good choice. (THEY'RE JUST WICKED EXPENSIVE!!!)

Don't buy Sony headphones though. Sony sucks ass. Like MX says: Sennheiser has the best headphones for a reasonable price.

Seconded. Have some sony headphones and they suck ass. They cut off frequencies and sounds usually are falsifised. I'm looking for some Sennheiser as well. The HD 650 looks quite good. 0.05% of harmonic distortion and a frequency response from 10 to 39000Hz.

Try a pair of Shure headphones. Amazing quality, yes they are expensive but even the basic pair are better than some of the higher end of quality makes.

I use Beyerdynamic DT231s as my studio reference 'phones - they're really nice. The sound is really clear, the bass well presented but not 'pushy', and they'll go louder than you can. Only cost me £35ish too, so won't break the bank.

Couple of review sites:

http://www.headphonereviews.org/ - seems good but I didn't use it when buying mine. Looks like good reviews though. I can't find the link of the site I used, sorry about that.

Csar - Those Sennheiser headphones are pretty much the best you can buy in terms of headphones. There isn't really any difference in sound between the HD600s and HD650s - best off saving the extra cash and going for the HD600s.
