It appears that burst generators are circuitry which output pulse signals of equal length, which may be used either as a controlling signal for a step-sequencer or may also be used to generate percussion based on fast, single noises such as washboards. It seems like it may also have applications for appregators. The burst generator was probably used to make that "tataTaTA-tataTaTA-tataTaTA-tataTaTA" noise in the song, Burst Generator.
That is my general understanding of the article.

The sound in the track is an ARP-2600 with some randomised parts.
Was this used in sequencing?
