i really wish they bring in a few more, at least a couple more old school tunes into this set. i loved the way the ptb set shaped up - cant wait to see where this goes.
so most people love that dirrrty saturate to believe to saturate to believe? :D
hell yeah! - it rocks! more dirty transitions pls! mindbending chemicals!

The one old track I wish they'd bring back is a proper version of Leave Home complete with the 'Brothers Gonna Work it Out' sample. I remember them doing this as the first part of the encore in the Barrows in Glasgow 1999 and it was utterly amazing, I've never heard them do it properly since.
Also I agree with those who have been saying Burst Generator is far to early in the set. If I were them I'd re-do the whole first quarter of the set and bin Galvanize altogether.

n sneaks - are u kiddin me? drop surface to air?
it's one of my fav live songs now, since the reel's gone - it's got that same beautiful spiritual feel of reel - i find it really trippy - i hope they start using it as a closer, it's that fuckin good.

Totally agree with JacksRevenge - Surface to Air is one of the sets highlights but since the Push the Button tour its always been to short. I've always thought it strange that they have that amazing long build up at the start and the track explodes only to die off just as you're getting into it. I'm not sure it would make a good closer but they could easily do more with the second half of it like the album version, I needn't end abruptly like it does.

Nope nope nope, Surface To Air should NOT ever, close a Chems set. IMO. Sorry. It is epic, but so is The Reel, so is The Test, so is Sunshine Underground, and dammit so is Burst Generator.
Surface To Air is fine where it is. It's a fantastic, beautiful breather inbetween things being hard and electronic. I'll never forget experiencing Surface To Air snuggled inbetween songs and looking back seeing a forest of arms stretched in the air. People stopped dancing nearly and it was they were taking a moment breathing in that joy (I even closed my eyes at one point because I was so taken aback) - but the moment Surface To Air created was much needed exactly where it was during the Coachella set I saw.
I think the best songs to close out a Chems set are the ones that inspire people to dance like hell and give it their all. Go out with a bang. Surface To Air just doesn't achieve those things on that level, and neither did the Test (as much as I love the song and feel blessed to have experienced it live).
It must be hard being Tom and Ed trying to decide which songs go where and when.

ok, i heard the saturate>believe transition again last night after reading whirly and csar's thoughts, and i think i've fallen way more deeply in love with that transition. it's my fav transition they've ever done. i don't find any problem with the vocal pitch - infact the sequence in which it's brought in, then the final (third?) (DESPERATE) I NEEEEDED TO BELIEVE leading to that BADASS BREAK is just genius - i really can't fathom how tom n ed actually crafted that genius transition.
Its disjointed and that's the beauty of it, that vocal, and that crazy new beat go exactly in with the saturate beautiful melody and the way the vocal culminates in the break the first time - that 1.1.50 or something just reeks of the best transition ever done in the most twisted way for the most beautiful song from the chems camp in eons. the vocal loop of believe is brought in actually to accentuate the crazy effect the drum break would bring in a coupla seconds later, and taken out to bring saturate back in with the new drums.
infact i'm tempted to start another thread just to discuss what musical genius has gone into creating just that masterpiece till believe finally takes over.
i'll prolly toke up and hear it again and do just that.
whirly - how bout a wager - if they do that part actually exactly like that in the live set u get to see, and it's not one of the best moments of the night for everyone in there, one of those close u'r eyes and surrender to the almightly tom n ed's genius with the biggest silliest smile on yer face, i'd stop posting all my garble here. :D it's gonna be the chemical moment of the night. double the wager if u'r on a psychedelic.
I WISH I REALLY GET TO EXPERIENCE IT MYSELF. :(

I absolutely enjoy Chemical Beats and where it's at in the set. Despite the lack of Get Yourself High, I like the vocal transition into HBHG... and I really like the new sinister sound of HBHG.
I can see what everyone says with the whole charade about the transition of Saturate to Believe. I've only heard the Munich live set, so I'm wondering if they bring in the Believe vocal at the same point each time?
Not to seem like a drag, but I've a few complaints (and possible remedies) with the live set.
I think if they are going to keep Galvanize, they need to bring back the transition from the PTB tour, it just sounds so powerful... but with Galvanize as an opener, I don't see any way that they could fit it in, unless you bring in unnecessary beats and speed up the BPM (NPTF seems slow to the transition beat, yes?).
I think if they are going to keep All Rights, they have to get rid of OOC, seeing as it has a part in that bootleg track. Though, I kind of have a problem with ARR's cut-up vocals. With OOC, it worked for me, but with ARR, it just doesn't... the Klaxons sing really high up there, so the chopped up vocals remind me only of birds dying.
That seems to be everything I wanted to touch on, though an earlier placement of WATN and later placement of Burst Generator would kind of work out. I plan on seeing them live for the first time if it is ever decided that a full US tour should take place... somewhere in the midwest, and I would rather see a live performance that holds the same energy from their past albums' tours... and I really really hope that Sunshine Underground is encored. It is the song I've been wanting to hear live the most.
On another note, I really would like to see everyone's views on Golden Path in the set (Or was it just something they added to the Munich set?).

tho most people might have a problem with it in the set, i like the way they put golden path this time.
on the ptb tour, i loved the way they used to play the instrumental version, making u (at least me because i absolutely LOVE IT) CRRAAAVE for the chorus, it came in once usually right at the end, or even not that if they were in a mean mood that night.
this time they'r playing the full vocals - which doesn't work as much for me as the ptb version, but it shows the chems really believe in that song (despite all the criticism on the boards, as ed does read here), and hence have put it back again to show us around this time what a pretty song it is - the most underrated chems song i'd say. tho the version in this set is weaker - i'll listen in later again and comment - because of the whole vocal in there - i swear i used to end up crying the lyrics, especially the chorus in frustration the last set when they used to fuck yer heads with such a pretty hippy tune. that's if u ever loved that song and coyne's singing on it.

I really like that they kept the Golden Path in their sets. It's a beautiful song, a beautiful evangelical moment during their gig...
Jack - I have no doubt I'm going to have my socks rocked right off when I hear Saturate... then when it mixes into Believe, and I will have forgotten all about this thread at that very moment. And you know I'll be back here writing a novel on the gig.
