Joi!
Nope sorry its a little too far from here.
When there, Beanie, check out the Turntablerockers, they're not hardcore like Sven Väth but sound pretty pretty ace (but you like it harder, ain't you - because you mentioned your passion for Detroit Techno if I remember correctly - then you should catch Chris Liebing).
Happy raving anyways.

Detroit Techno is not really hard. If í stand correct Chris Liebing is not really a Detroit Techno DJ too...Last time i heard him play it was quite soul-less. I find Detroit Techno quite soulfull. But these these i'm very much liking my minimal schminimal.
Villalobos and Hawtin will be the highlights for me! Oh and Garnier...and Loco Dice...and Ame...and Luciano...And Marco Corola... Hehehhee :-D

Ah I see. Well you're right Chris Liebing is not really Detroit, but I thought Detroit techno is a bit "pure", less layerd than other directions (because its the root of all following). Btw, did you know (Detroit)Techno was invented by a black man (dunno his name at the moment) - saw in in a coverage a while back, very intersting.
Well back to topic - and Digitalism I hope! The others you mentioned I don't know.

like any style of music Detroit techno wasn't really invented by one man
anyway it's style that came from a particular city - the house sound of Chicago taken, twisted and made into something very Detroit. deep melodic, glacial suspended strings. bits of house, new wave influences and the sound of European electronic records put in the blender. derrick may is often quoted as saying it's the sound kraftwerk stuck in an elevator with George Clinton. which is an amazing quote
the people really credited with developing what we call Detroit techno are often referred to as the Belleville 3 - three school friends from the Detroit area; Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Juan Atkins. I think Eddie 'flashin' fowlkes was another local resident key in it's inception.
if you're interested in the history of the music then check out the film hi-tek soul and the book last night a dj saved my life.
