yeah it looks like record companies are getting their house in order making sure albums dont leak, offering people legal downloads etc. but ticket agencies have not got their house in order. they put on the ticket a bit about how the ticket is not trasferable, but ebay is flooded with people selling tickets just to make a quick buck. it seems as long as they (ticket agents) have sold the actual ticket they have made the money. someone has got to sort this out cos people are getting ripped off by ebay touts for every gig in the country. i have lost out a few times this year and its crap.

did they??
not 100% full proof. there were plenty of tickts on sale on ebay and shoddy agents. and they were going for vast sums of money. the way they got round the id checks were supplying people with a couple of utility bills with there touted tickets.
it was a step in the right dirrection though. i do agree that all tickets should have the persons name on them. and id checks should be carried out at the venue, but i dont think utility bills should count as valid id. this might discriminate some people who may not have a drivers licence or bank cards. but under the current way tickets are sold people are being discriminated!! any unwanted tickets should go back to the agents for resale. it isn't rocket science, just a bit of extra work.
another thought. if record companies can get promos on ebay removed then why cant ticket agents get ticket listing removed off of ebay seeing as they are not transferable }:-@

I don't know how it is over there, but out where I live, ticket sales are almost totally monopolized by the ticket outlet, Ticketmaster. I hate TicketBastard. It's awful - they overcharge, getting online is a joke, going in physically to get tickets costs you more money, there's a service charge on top of everything else if you buy your tix with a credit card. There's no refunds, and even though their policy is that you sign your tickets when you receive them, it really don't mean jack shit.
Service charges are upwards of $16 on top of ticket price. For example, the last time I saw the Chems at the Audiotistic Festival I waited til the last minute to get tickets... Tickets were $80 for both my husband and I. The service charge *on top of the $80* was $16 per ticket!! Yeah, it was the Chems, otherwise it wasn't worth it.
Now, if you buy a ticket out of your area, Ticketmaster tacks on a "convenience" charge on top of everything else. as if paying the extra money was more convenient.
A lot of venues where I am do not open their box offices, so there's a very slim chance of even purchasing tickets that way - so you have to go through TicketMaster.
