A little while ago, I was going through the old Planet Dust discography (while not doing and homework whatsoever), and noticed an entry under [ Collaborations & Production Work For Other Artists ] called Harpoon and B-Dat. I had no idea what this was, so I clicked on it. This is an untitled record featuring two artists, Harpoon and B-Dat, that was released in 1993 on Immortal Records (side note: it might be the first record ever released on Immortal). The Planet Dust discography said that the two Harpoon tracks were produced by Tom Rowlands. Needless to say I was extremely interested.
I checked Discogs and found loads more info. Discogs listed the artist Harpoon as Tom Rowlands himself - so the two tracks weren't just produced by Tom, they were fully created by Tom. The artist on the other side of the record, B-Dat, is listed as Matt Berry, a former member of Ariel. On the actual record though, Berry and Rowlands are credited as the producers, while the songwriters for the record are listed as "P. Hassel" (for Harpoon) and "Roach" (for B-Dat). Of course, Discogs is edited by users, so the Harpoon and B-Dat id's could have been mistakes. But neither of these names have any other songwriting credits and they produce zero meaningful results in a search. I thought, this record could be a virtually unheard-of solo record by Tom, since the writers sound fake, and even if it's not, it's still produced by Tom and a former member of Ariel. Stuck it in my Christmas list, waited a few weeks, and now I've got it!
I was a little short on time and I only had time to listen to the A-Side, but I'm totally convinced this is Tom's work! Connection no 1 has that sonic fingerprint all over it, I swear some of the sounds were reused in My Mercury Mouth. Pine is much more acid house and sounds a lot like Her Jazz, or Song To The Siren, or the Open Up remix. The first track is a lot better, but both sound a ton like old Dust Brothers era material. If that wasn't evidence enough, the notes said all four songs were mixed at "the Dustbowl"

Both really need to be heard by you guys. As far as I know this has gone completely unnoticed, I searched the forum for any mention of it with no results. I'm going to post a hi-quality rip of both sides for the forum only, with a well known forum password like last time, as soon as I get the chance (which will be January 5th). In the meantime, here is a Christmas teaser:
I got a rough rip of the first track Connection no 1 ready to give out. It's not great quality and the first 7 seconds are screwed up in the right channel - perfectly listenable, just not hi-fi like it should be. Here's the link:

I promise I'll make the rest of the record available on January 5.
