When the Singles album came out, it was too late to add It Began In Afrika. That track had recently gotten married and was no longer single.

come with us is a stellar album boys! it's i.m.o stronger than exit. Though not as specially loud.
(I'd go: Surrender/Push/Dig/Come/Exit)

Can anyone answer why It Began In Africa was not on the The Singles 1993-2003?? I thought it was a sweet track........
Why is it that important? I mean, they've put three tracks from CWU on the singles lp. And if you like to listen to IBIA, which is indeed a fantastic tune , then just take the relevant cd and put it in your player. Be at least a lil bit flexible!
Maybe one reason why it haven't made it on the singles lp is that they didn't want to think about a new ending that while on CWU it was mixed itnto Galaxy Bounce and they lp's space was not enough.

It Began In Afrika-ka-ka
01.08.01
Since the spring, Tom and Ed Chemical have been road testing some new material in their DJ sets and consequently gave some slates of one of the tracks, "It Began In Afrika" to a few select DJs. Reactions were phenomenal, so a limited run of promos were pressed up as "Electronic Battle Weapon 5" - the latest in their series of limited club cuts - and sent to key DJs up and down the country.
The track has received massive attention, and it's been hammered constantly in the clubs for the last few months. Because of the overwhelming demand for this record, "It Began In Afrika" will now get a commercial release in September.
"It Began In Afrika" is a stomach churning, earth quaking, moody monster of a record...it's Tom & Ed at their creative, chaotic best. The commercial release also features a second track, "Hot Acid Rhythm 1", which does exactly what it says on the packet.
The Chemical Brothers have just announced that they will DJ at this year's Creamfields festival in Liverpool on 25th August.
"It Began In Afrika" will be released through Freestyle Dust/Virgin Records on 10th September 2001.

Because the Brothers don't like to talk about "Come With Us" and are doing their best to forget they ever made it.
That's rubbish, sorry.
No poo sherlock.
jeezuz.
Watson! This is kinda naughty!
Did they really say that about CWU? It was an album just before its time.

Well, they didn't come right out and say it quite like that. It's been talked about here before, ad nauseum - and arguments always come up so this is all I'm going to say on the subject (and yes, it took me way too much time to find this!!) X-D

the funny thing is it was exactly one year earlier

Mainly I just pretend that I don't like CWU so I don't seem like a drooling, rabid fanboy.
It's merely my least favorite album of theirs.

As for Singles 93-03 choice, I always thought it was a bit weird... They omitted Life Is Sweet (which, I think, is one of their best singles), Loops of Fury (probably coz it was an EP, although it appears on bonus disc), Elektrobank (probably coz they decided to go for live version on bonus disc), Music:Response (maybe coz it was an EP), It Began In Afrika and Come With Us (probably coz it was released as a double-A side with The Test).
They could've just included radio edits of all the tracks, they'd fit on one CD. But then, what's done is done, no point bitching about it :P Bonus disc makes up for all the lacking singles, which we have on original albums anyway...
