It's the current since, i don't know, 3 years or so for the mid-range and high-end cards. Smaller cards and onboard-chips are still using GDDR3.
Wondering why the industustrie just skipped GDDR4 and moved directly from 3 to 5.

Why such a bias against Nvidia? I've done a fair amount of research, and so far it seems that the GTX580 is the fastest card currently on the market - faster than any single-GPU ATI cards. Also, I have heard from many sources, both personal and online that ATI drivers suck, and you have to get community-made/modified drivers for it to work well. That seems a bit silly, that the community can make better drivers than the company making the product.

Hah, wow, we must think alike! Didn't we get very similar components for the rest of our PCs? Anyways, my card is just a tad newer - it's not really faster, but it apparently runs cooler and/or less loudly. It's huge! I just installed it, and it's was extremely hard to fit in with all the cables - I can't imagine doing SLI! (Also, damn it took a long time to install the drivers! I thought it was frozen for a bit when it sat at 50% for 10ish minutes :???: ).

Try practicing first with Horde Mode (2.0 and Beast mode looks insane) and then jump to multiplayer, it's easier!

I got an i7 2600k and the mobo is an MSI P67A-GD65.

As for nVidia/ATI, nVidia seems better for gaming to me. ATI is somewhat better for calculation. As for the 570GTX, I haven't had a game yet that didn't run smoothly with everything maxed out. Crysis 2 runs like a charm with the ultra hi res textures and all the parameters at ultra.

GTA IV runs perfectly with the maximum parameters, while I had been strugling to get it to run smoothly and not look ugly with my ATI HD5850

Favorite bigeo games:
Super Metroid
Mother 2
FFII & FFIII
Super Mario RPG

I'm sure there's others that slipped my mind at the moment.

ATI do some great cards (I have one), but if money is no barrier then I would go with Nvidia everytime because of their physx engine.

I have been playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Posted Image

It's amazing! It is taking over my life though, and I am forgetting everything else like food and friends. I have banned myself from playing it, but it's the hardest thing i've ever done. If you love quality sci-fi then this is a must :D It's set in 2024 where the line between man and machine is blurred and it questions what it is to be human.

Ha, I've been playing the first Deus Ex obsessively for the last month. Great game, I'm still not that good at it, but I love the storyline and the gameplay's top notch (I am using the "kill everyone" method, no subtlety for me ).

Commercials for Human Revolution have been on TV constantly, looks fantastic, can't wait to play it.

Yes! I chose this as my game of choice, no -- game de vivre -- for the labour day weekend. It really is great! Where are you at? I think I'm nearing the end of the first Hengsha visit. I'm a hacking master, and I take out almost all enemies through non-lethal knockouts. Currently, I'm working towards getting the cloaking augments, as well silent leg ones.

Generally, this game reminds me Fallout with a less open world, less weapons, but superior graphics, story, acting, and perhaps, dare I say, gameplay. Glad I bought it

I would say it is a cross between Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crysis and Fallout 3. I didn't understand hacking at first, so I just pressed random stuff and it worked, but that didn't last for long. It's tricky knowing what augment to upgrade but my favourite has to be being able to see heat signatures through walls. One aug I don't want is the enemy cone vision because that just takes the challenge out of the game. I mostly play stealthy, sneaking past and I don't bother with takedowns because they use too much energy and they're noisy! Also the spring loaded legs, and Icarus landing system are great time savers. I have all the cloaking upgrades but tbh I don't really use it, using cover is effective enough. Plus it means you will think a bit harder about how to get out of a situation. I don't know where I am now (plot point) which could be to do with the fact I played it drunk last night. The HARDEST mission is when

I tried playing that last year, but the pixels were too offensive and it was soooo hard that it wasn't enjoyable. Shame, because I know the story is supposed to be amazing, much like the story in Human Revolution.

It will be in my top 10 games of all time which I have never officially compiled.

God, that part you mentioned in the spoilers upset me -- I don't usually feel bad if characters die, but that part actually got to me. And then, just when I was about over it, I went into that room in the harvester hideout/base, and there she was again
I must say that the conversations and character developement are really top-notch in Deus Ex.
