your better off buying a cd turntable than final scratch. final scratch is very clever but i think somewhat flawed. if you are playing out live you need to rewire the mixer for the final scratch control interface. not really what you want to be doing at a venue. then have a laptop with all your mp3's on, then pray it doesn't crash. Richie Hawtin (the face of vinyl scratch) has admitted he has suffered the problem of crashing computer when playing in clubs. not a great way to work the crowd!!
any mp3's i have i burn of on to cd, cos any good venue has a cd turntable of some variety. apart from my 2 technics 1210's i have a couple of pioneer cdj1000's, these decks are the shit!!! all the flexability of vinyl like scratching and spinbacks. plus features that you can only do on a digital deck like looping and hot cueing, which gives you the ability to almost remix a tune live. if your into mixing the future of dj'ing is cdj 1000's

wheres the second Technics SL 1210 you mentioned?
on another desk out of the picture. unfortunatly my mixing desk is too small, or rather i got to many toys!!! since i got the cd turntables i dont have much use for the second 1210, i mainly just play cd's now with the occasional vinyl.

I'm also very very shy about the music I have composed, and anal retentive since I tend to be a perfectionist and most of my songs are not complete - Always open to criticism and willing to share privately, but it is not very likely I'll be posting a link here anytime soon. - whirlygirl
I definately agree. Thats the reason that this:-

I was cleaning out my pc the other day and found this old remix i was working on last year. I never finished it as usual but i thought i would put a snipet on the net as i've never had anyone except my mates listen to my stuff before and i wanted to use some of my free web space Anyway the track is very dance orientated with a plain 4+4 beat not really the type of thing i try to make myself but necerssary for this remix.
Ok heres the link Cheers.

was the first time i've ever posted any music id done online.
But i would like to post songs online if i thought people would like a listen. But again like you said most of them are unfinished.

i think cd decks are the devils tools }:-)
the thing with cd's is they are limited in the amount of info they can hold,so quality is sacrifised. thats why vinyl is still so popular. i can tell the difference when a dj drops a cd at a gig,its huge! i mean if you cant find a track you really need on vinyl then a cd deck is good, but id never buy a pair and mix and scratch with them. vinyl is just too plush!
it is another string to the "DJ bow" i guess, but its just not wax!

Thank you griffin - I will def check out your link perhaps tomorrow when I've got more moments to myself.
Griffin, very nice and clean track - like c-row said, what it does, it does well. It sounds a bit minimalistic, not a whole lot of texture but that's OK because it's obvious the driving force behind the song isn't the melody, it's the beat. I know this is a work in progress but this tune could stand a longer intro and outtro. As of now it sounds like it's a part of a larger mix. Overall though, a good effort with lots of dancefloor potential!
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

The human hearing ranges from 20 hz to 20 khz (20,000 hz) although as we get older our eardrums slacken and the higher frequencys become harder to hear, our hearing becomes more like 20 hz to 15 or 14 khz.
Cd is 16 bit 44.1 khz this dosent mean that because our hearing only reaches up to 20 khz that we can only hear half of what is put on cd it's just to do with sound quality the more bits and hrz the better the sound quality. Dont forget we're talking about a digital medium here a bunch of zeros and ones trying to replacate what was put in, so any sound that is recorded to a digital medium (hard disk) is a replacation so the more bits and htz that are used recording the sound the better the digital approximation will be. Most soundcards now record in 24 bit 96 khz but of course you cant put this onto a cd so you need to dither it down to 16 bit 44.1 khz but to record at the higher quality and then dithering it down is better than just recording at cd quality sound as you get a much better clearer approximation of the sound. To sum up the 44.1 khz of a cd is not the same as the 20hz to 20 khz frequency of our hearing, like scanning a picture the higher the resolution you use the sharper the image so bits and htz are sounds version of a pictures resolution the more you use the more definition and clarity will be captured. :D
