But they have no plans to tour the US yet... I wish I could just hop a plane to Europe to see them, it would be worth it!
And now that you say it, I took a listen to the older albums and a lot of them are with the 4/4 beat, but I never really noticed it until It Began in Afrika.. that song didn't sit too well with me. And this album definitely has its share of breaks that I didn't notice so much on first listen.
And I agree that Come With Us had rougher transitions than others, especially Surrender. This one works like the earlier albums like you said (good points!)
My expectations for this album were also like unrealistically high, and the album didn't blow me away the first time I heard it like I imagined it would, so I started out on a bad foot. It's definitely growing on me each time though.
One more thing I like about Galvanize is that they do the type of beat drop that I usually don't like... kind of like the anti-climactic half beat drop before the whole beat drop... (am I making any sense?) and it just works perfectly in Galvanize, it gets me so pumped haha.
And so far.. favorite tracks: Galvanize, Believe, Marvo Ging, and I think surface to air is getting there.
Ok that's the end of my random thoughts on PTB :)

Galvanize is hot, I'll excuse the cheesy lyrics because... well they always have a hot single with cheesy lyrics. (Hey Boy Hey Girl, Block Rockin Beats, exept of course on their best album, Exit Planet Dust... that was just golden).
= Danny G
"Brothers gonna work it out" from Leave Home. I find that just as cheesy as "Back with another of those block rockin' beats"
Surface to the Air was used in a soccer match promo for England-the Netherlands tonight on the BBC

New theory on galvanize though:
Galvanize means to stimulate to action, and Q-Tips finger is on the button... and an ominous robotic voice is telling him to push the button:
Q-tip is saying it is time to take action: it is time to blow shit up. What will he blow up? Is he saying Britain has a nuke pointed at the US and that it's about time to use it??
It goes in line with Left Right which also has a political, let's take action kind of message.
:)

People say they dnt like the sudden ending to STA, well does the inclusion of giant on the album make the ending any better? Personally i really like the STA ending of the album.
What style is giant is it a pumping club tune?

Anyhow. It's almost eerie how they can do that consistantly through 5 studio records, retain their style all the while evolving at the same time to create something fresh.
Not to put them up them up on a pedastal more than I already have ;) , but that has got to be a hard thing for any one person to do successfully (let alone 2 people) without some part of the music being compromised in some way. No small feat by any means, and it's good to recognize that when you're so familiar with their catalogue.
Word from a couple of long standing Chems fans (Exit and Dig Your Own Hole purists) I've known for a while is that they too haven't listened to a record this much since Dig Your Own Hole. I think it's a good thing, and you're not alone in your thinking Rynostar.

Heh. Yah, a LOT of EPD/DYOH purists HATED surrender, and basically wrote the chems off. Then when CWU came out they didn't care -- until they caught a whiff of Star Guitar -- which brought a lot of them back to listen to PTB.
Personally, I thought Surrender was incredible - such a departure, yet still in line with them.
BTW - Was there any difference in the songs on the advance copy (bootleggers called it Rising Fenns, after the pre-title of the song?) or were all the tracks unchanged?

Yeah, those Surrender days were harsh, lots of heat going on with the mailing list... it really divided up the Chems fan base. I was new to the list at the time, and never got into much debate when it came to those discussions - the discussions kind of scared me at first. Surrender was one that both sides of the camp were passionate about.
I don't say a whole lot about Surrender here, mainly because it's too deep a personal record for me, it came to me at a time in my life where I needed it the most... and sometimes I'm a wordsmith but I can't do it justice on how it changed the way I listened to music. Forever. It's just one of those things. I've gotten over the nagativity that surrounded that record. People have their opinions, I guess, and their reasons - so arguing something that close and personal to me is quite pointless. I hear it through my ears and heart, other people have their own way of listening to it...
So anyway, I'd like to know what's up with the advance copy myself - if there's any differences between it and the release. I have a promo, in a gray outer cardboard sleeve (blue inner cardboard sleeve) that was made in Holland, and it's the exact same Push The Button as sold in stores.

Heh. Actually, I meant the Surrender advance.... I think it was S.B. or IrishFan that said their promo 12" of PTB were unmixed - but the CD promo is the same as the actual release.
