For a Chems music video I believe you need the following elements:
1. A Disregard for the songs lyrics or theme
2. Modern psychedelic connotations
3. Subtle drug references i.e drug enduced hallucinations
4. No famous faces
5. Tom and Ed in an Alfred Hitchcock style camio
P.S What's not to like about the Chems!

I've learned not to expect anything in nit-picky particular when it comes to Chemical Brothers videos, or their music for that matter. Of course I have high expectations because the Chemical Brothers are my favorite band - I want them to do well, I wish them success, I want their songs to please me because after all, I'm the one listening. But overall I've kind of moved away from the kind of expectations that lend itself to the notions that 1.) the Chems have to sound a certain way because *I* want them to - which is selfish at best and totally unrealistic and idiotic at worst, and 2.) the whole "but their new album should sound like <
Back to videos. The Star Guitar video was pleasantly surprising, as was the Test, Salmon Dance, Believe. All very well done videos that provide a visual landscape to compliment the song even in a most unexpected way. Some videos are better than others, some are absolutely mind blowing in that the video images are forever implanted in my brain and associated with the song.
For a Shake Break Bounce video... haven't thought about what I'd expect to see, and the song isn't really one of my most fave Chems songs - but I do like the mental image the clockwork/ticking/whimsical noises conjure up. To me - and I know I've said this before - the noises in the song remind me a little bit like Tom and Ed were set loose in a wind up toy facotry. So if I had the skill and expertise to make a video of some sort, it would play up what I see in my mind's eye. If I had the skill, know how and time, I'd make a stop motion type video that involved wind-up tin toys.

If there was ever a formula for Chemical Brothers videos, london_dust_explosion just nailed it.
For your vid, be creative and avoid all cliches.
The fact that you are picking a less popular song like Shake Break Bounce is a sign that you are thinking outside of the box, and is a good start. Please follow up once you've completed it. Good luck.

I would have loved to seen an It began in Afrika music video, and all they would have to do is use the animal visuals from the out of control/dont fight it feel it/ it doesnt matter of the live show.

I like videos to reinforce what the music makes me feel. Most chemical brothers vids have done that. I love the chemical brothers coz their unique, without reference to anything else and just transport me into my own little world. Hope i dont sound too crazy.
Shake break bounce to me feels like a journey. Do you ever get songs that are just perfect for driving to, in this one the guitar rhythm in the background sounds like traveling. Bit like star guitar (also my fav), but obviously not quite so calm. I like whirly's idea, give it a playful kinda feel. Then at the end sounds like it's all gone wrong and got stuck. Hehe, seems like it could be a fun video to make! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
