I'm sure you all got the e-mail about the chems video Get Yourself High being nominated for an award. I of course voted for them, but I personally dislike this video.

Funnily enough over the weekend there was this programme where Jet Li and Quentin Tarantino talked about their favourite martial arts films, there were some classic clips that made me think about the GYH video. I think it's really cool but best would either be Star Guitar or Let Forever Be. 8)

I still think that GYH was the best video there, very clever idea (although I presumed some of the videos for the others).

I especially like the bit in the e-mail that says 'Also keep an eye out for news on the new album, announcements to follow soon.' Although soon can mean any amount of time. :?

*shrugs* I think Out of Control is their poorest video since Life is Sweet. At least until the riot part at the end, which is kewl with a 'K'. Have to say I prefer The Test as my fave Chems video, methinks. (Of course, Star Guitar and Let Forever Be are great videos; I've yet to see a poor Gondry video: love Human Behaviour, Fell in Love With a Girl, etc.) Honorable mention to The Golden Path because it makes me smile and feel warm and fuzzy inside by the end every time.

That's when you know you have a problem... ;) My husband and I were watching that Tarantino/Li special a couple months ago, when the movie Hero came out here in the States. I finally said, "just get yourself high" and my husband understood and laughed and said "i was thinking the same thing" - bless his soul, I love that man. And how about Kill Bill 2. I mean, Pai Mei (the guy with the beard) - come on!!! I half expected him to be carting a boombox while doing that flippy thing with his beard. I need help, I really do.

I like The Test, it's my favorite of the videos. Brilliant song and a brilliant video to go along with it. Great effects and I like the blatant trip factor. It makes no bones about being trippy - it's not subtle.

I also like Let Forever Be - it's like a day-in-the-life-movie-kaleidescope! Very clever indeed.

I also voted for them even tho I was not crazy about that video. I think their best videos were "Let Forever Be," "Hey Boy, Hey Girl," and "Setting Sun." Oh yeah! I can't forget "The Test!!!!" Simply amazing. :)

I agree w u on "The Golden Path" video. I feel the same way! Oh yeah, and "Star Guitar" was also good, but very simple.

I fargen love that bit at the beginning to The Test where that massive blue whale comes and swallows the girl, I personally have a fear of the ocean and a big fuck off whale coming along so it makes me feel a little uneasy, but I love that feeling when i'm sitting in the comfort of my leather, back massaging chair.

Golden Path does indeed give you a warm feeling :D It also reminds me a little of the matrix, the bit when he's in the office, and then he travels to another world (but then I'm reminded of the matrix all the time being obsessed and all )

Ha i was watching the same special and it showed some of the best martial art action scenes from the east. Pretty incredible. I am really getting into the whole kungfu business after watching Kill Bill 1+2. Damn that movie kicked ass.

and what's wrong with out of control, the whole concept of the video is incredible and fits the song perfectly. not to mention that hot chic in the video( couldn't keep my eyes of her) anyways but i really like all of chem videos, they are all so different(even Life is sweet)

I like the Golden Path viddy. It does give me the warm fuzzies. The feel-good video of the year!

When I saw the Chemicals play The Test, they had that big whale on the round screen. I think of that show when I see the video. Plus I love the jellyfish. :) I love the ocean too but there's this primal fear I have of it. I pretty much got over it while ago - I spent a lot of time on a boat. Being out in the open sea has a way of making you feel so small, it can be a weird feeling of vulnerability once you make your way out to the open. It wasn't so much the creatures in the ocean that freaked me out (granted, if I came face to snout with a shark I'd freak) it was the currents, getting stuck in the wake of a real big boat that's pulling a few knots. Nothing more uneasy and queasy than being tossed all over the place!

I must confess that i'm not up to date so i didn't know there's a video of GYH and i didn't get such an e-mail :'( .. But if there where the choice to vote for other screeplays by the brothers i'd definitely vote for the test, 'cause it's the most creative music video i've ever seen. I like the lightning jellyfish flickering to the beat. But HBHG, Let Forever Be and TGP are also very well. Out of Control and Star Guitar (except the fruity version on dvd's bonus stuff) instead are weak a little i think..

What I like about Star Guitar is that it's brilliance is subtle. The more you watch, the more you see - just like the song. The more you listen, the more you hear. You notice different things syncing up when you watch the Star Guitar video again and again. I think Michel Gondry really pulled this off well. How often do we listen to something, and the rhythm of what we're listening to syncs up to the life rhythms going on in front of our eyes? (happens to me a lot when I'm paying attention) It's cool that a video encompasses that.
