Anyone heard Eat Sleep Rave Repeat or its remixes yet?

I'm kind of amazed that he still manages to have relevance! Impressive, really. I didn't like Palookaville, for the most part. I wanted to, but didn't. He doesn't seem to be trying to put out albums these days--from what I can tell it's just been this new track and Machines Can Do the Work recently, which is fine, really. Better to put out a couple of good tracks than an album full of mediocre ones.

Anyone seen any of his DJ sets recently? I caught the last half or so of his set a year and a half ago when he played alongside Deadmau5 here in SF. Rather enjoyable dancing was had by all.

I find it rather crappy... Fatboy Slim is dead to me, since Palookaville, and died a second time when I finally saw him DJ a couple years back...

::laughs:: Completely understandable. I still hold out hope. (but it's a fool's hope)

Nah, he has only been releasing stuff with other producers (Riva Starr, Hervé...) and except for Machines can do the work (that sounds like a Hervé track, so that must be why I like it) what he released was quite bad. Did he forget how to do something on his own ? And what's with all those remixes ? Leave those tracks in the past, no remix can do them honour...

Some people work best with other people. There are a number of people in here who seem to agree that Tom & Ed work best together. ;-)

Lots of people work with others to produce albums... I don't know if I'd hold that against him. And hey--if it means we get more great electronic music tracks, I'm all for it.

Notwithstanding that, I still can't get over how huge of a decline there was from Gutter & the Stars to Palookaville... :-/

Yeah i was so disapointed with Palookaville I refused to buy it. The only track I liked was Jin Go Lo Ba -a cover version. And even that was better when released in remixed form by Jon Carter as a b-side.
I'm not crazy about this new track either, though the remix sounds surprisingly decent.

i like the track. machines do the work was ok but i agree that his best days are behind him but he still rocks it live. i wasnt lucky enough to see him dj in his pomp really but when i did go, i wasnt expecting much and it was brilliant. good party vibes

i saw him do this 3 dj's thing at glasto once with emerson and timo maas and it was the shittest thing i have ever witnessed in that dance tent, so we went and saw carl cox in this mini tent and it was immense.

Didnt like "eat sleep rave repeat", I was totally dissapointed. I saw Fatboy Slim earlier this year here in Chile (where he played the exact playlist that he did in Tomorrowland), and guess what, not even 1 full fatboy slim song was played, I really thought it was a waste of money... I liked Palookaville, but yeah Fatboy Slim is dead, all he keeps doing is making crappy new sets made for the "EDM scene" crowd.

I haven't heard these new tracks yet..

I wasn't terribly thrilled with Palookaville when it first came out but there are some tracks that surprisingly grew on me over time, and struck a more personal chord with me (like Put It Back Together is a good example). I suppose it is more a reflection on where I was at the time than where I wanted the music to fit into my life. But I guess the same can be said for all music.

I saw Fatboy once at Coachella in 2001. He played a DJ set right before the Chems took over the decks. it was a fun set and his fans were crazy fun. He was a tough act to follow and this was (IMO) at a time where a lot of people would say he peaked in his prime. I wouldn't mind seeing him again but I sort of, eh... blew my wad getting to see him play back to back with Tom and Ed. it couldn't get any better than that. So I'm good with the memories I have.

I'll always have a soft spot for Norman, even if he doesn't put out music that pleases me as much as his older stuff.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I think it's fantastic. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that I can't play it for my kid yet. Too many fucks and fuckings.

I'd like put in a note here. I really wondered what was up with Norman lately. Machines can do the work was nice. But then saw him play HARD (last year? the year before? I forget now) ... then I heard the eat sleep rave repeat.

He's still amazing. He's just doing his thing. I feel he has some more amazing stuff coming.

Check out Brighton Port Authority
It was a project that Fatboy Slim did a few years ago and it had one album: I Think We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat

The BPA for me was a let-down compared to palookaville. I really hope the guy gets it back together and picks up his sampler and 303 to kickstart the much needed big beat revival.
