Went to a club here in SF to check out Brodinski and Gessafelstein for their "Bromance Tour."
Only Gessafelstein showed up. It was boring. There were a bunch of French assholes. The end.
On the plus side, I get to hang out with a bunch of people today and play a bunch of board games!
Edit:
Oh, last night, one of my friends was being a douchebag. He actually used the line, without irony or reference to The Big Lebowski, "Obviously, you have never been to Burning Man."

Gessafelstein was boring ? Was it a DJ set or a live set ?
On another more exciting note, After almost 10 years of being a member I met/saw one of us here at the forum.
Went to see Peter/Enjoyed play a set down at the Social last night with my sister who is in town for a few weeks. The band before, Grass House, brought in a lot of people (40 or so). Mind you it was a lackluster indie rock act so it wasn't too impressive. Between sets we went upstairs for drinks and so my sister could have a smoke. Went back down to find that virtually everyone had left leaving a few people at the tables on the side in conversation, a lone girl at the side of the stage, the promoter, and the two of us.
He started 10 minutes after he was supposed to start due to the other acts going late. His set was quite upbeat and par to what I expected from hearing through his soundcloud. Melodic, upbeat, good use of live elements using the mic, synths, ableton, and triggers. We made it a point to get up and dance like fools. There was a feeling as though I was at a family wedding where the only people dancing were those you know or related to those around you and no one is trying to impress. He sadly only could play for 20 minutes till 11 due to curfew laws. The (few) songs he did play that stood out were his collaboration with Femme (from Ultraista), and filtered mix of Return of the Mack.
Afterwords, I introduced myself to him and we had a very friendly conversation about the gig, the forum, and similair musicians for about 5 minutes. Also chatted to the lone girl who was with him about English vs. Canadian life.
Overall rating of meeting Peter/Seeing Enjoyed = Well overdue and worth it even if no one else cared. Definetly want to see Peter play a LONGER set in the future. Also good to make it back to the Social after not having been there for years.
That's sad. And for a band to have two members die prematurely really is a harsh blow.
It's terribly sad. A while back, I read a very heartfelt and honest blog post written by Jon, shortly after his seizure. http://www.thecharla...t/blogpast.html (entry is Philly Del Fear, 30th September 2010 by Jon) It is worth a read and his positive outlook is inspiring.
I was hoping he'd make it out of the woods. The band has been marked by tragedy from early on...
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle
Saw Simian Mobile Disco do a dj set on Friday night, and it was actually far less entertaining than I had expected. It was okay--just fine as a night out goes, but far from the energy to which I had become accustomed from the duo. They seem to be going on a rather inward type of energy flow with their music right now... :-/
Other than that, still waiting on my bar results and talking to lots of attorneys about jobs... nothing solid yet, though, unfortunately. Time will yield positive results. Always does.

Come out from the cold and into the setting sun. It's where it all began for me (not in Afrika), like it was out of control. Then after that life was sweet. So dream on into the pioneer skies of the fourteenth century and rise from the sunshine underground.
Following on from the rules of Djing, how about The Rules of Clubbing. This article is admittedly nearly 11 months old, but I love it. So many bits of this rang true for me, particularly the one about being over 30 and having 18 year olds assuming you are there to sell them drugs. Stop asking me!!
