How do you feel about people sampling your music and have you been paid for it?

"I think that?s what publishing was invented for. When I started out I didn?t really understand publishing to that extent, I started to get it around six years ago when Siouxsie & The Banshees sampled ?PSK?. I had a co-publishing deal so I owned it all myself. I had the feeling that somewhere down the line McDonalds and whatever were going to use some of that work. How do I feel about it? I don?t get too happy, I don?t get too sad. I sample, I get sampled, I pay, they have to pay."

The Chemical Brothers? "I haven?t seen the cheque yet. The first time I heard the Chemical Brothers was at home, sitting watching the NBA play-offs and they begin to show the programme and I hear, ?Back with another one of those block rockin? beats?. I?m like, ?What the fuck, turn that shit up?. I rang my lawyer and was like, ?Turn the goddamn finals on!?. They were just in the states end I spun at their gig in Philly."

I just couldn't believe that they wouldn't pay a brother, and wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it.

you have heard of the song Block Rockin' Beats, right? It's a Chemical Brothers song.... I know it may have come out before you were born, but with technology today you can hear music from the distant past.

Woah! Schooly D was one of their big influences in the early days too (they say so in the bio on this website). I doubt it was the chem's choice of whether or not to pay him royalties. Probably a record company lawyer type loophole or something.

I imagine it was the case where the suits shafted Jesse Weaver on his royalties. If it were up to Tom and Ed, I imagine they would've flown straight to Philadephia and signed a check themselves as much as they dig Schoolly and all. It's like with Liam using Sgt. Pepper on the Breezeblock session but not using it on DCS1 even though Paul McCartney got a kick out of it.

You wanna hear some crazy stories about Schoolly D and royalties, pick up the dvd for King of New York and pop in the second disc at listen to his fucked up stories about dealing with girlfriend's mothers, guns, and the mafia.

Tell me: were you born without a sense of humour, or did somebody extract it from you?

Jesus Christ, kiddo. Calm down.

Apparently you have a problem with discussions in here - even the ones that have to do with Chemical Brothers songs!!

We are all one big family on here, we don't have age discrimination on here :D.

It exists in a lot of other places though, at work I sometimes get customers trying to be clever with me after I've told them something, they think I know f*** all cos I look around 17 .
