I'm seeing you live in exactly 6 days and no matter how hyped i am i always have this feeling of light dissapointment when i realise that when i see through the Further DVD, i've already lived three quarters of the actual gig.
So, yes, in a way, i have 'seen' it.
The visuals are the same? Yes, i've seen them on the DVD.
The music is the same? Yes, i've heard it.

The thing with WATN tour and all others was that you couldn't replicate it in any way. But now, with the DVD, gigs would be like 'an already seen thing'.
The experience is, of course, totally different on a festival with 60.000 people, excellent sound and a huge screen, and it will be a marvelous experience, but i always want the Best for and from the Chems.
You're never too retarded to RAVE!!!

As Igorchete said, I actually saw it, on the DVD. But I can also make my opinion out of the videos and reviews. And I know that I wouldn't like to see the same thing I saw on the DVD.

The problem is here : the shows look like the DVD played on a big screen. I know you're not actually doing it. But this is the impression it gives.

I wouldn't like to be able to know exactly what you're gonna play and what the visuals are, when I attend the show in Paris. I'd like to be surprised you know. The first half, as it is now, doesn't seem to feature any surprise.

There's nothing wrong with having high hopes for a Chems gig, but the thing that stands out most are these expectations of being disappointed. :-(

I'm reminded of all the arguing and pleading we did on the forums a long time ago begging for a live DVD. And I can now see why the Chems have not and probably never will release one.

Unless you have a monster LCD screen, a massive soundsystem, enough lasers to make Star Wars weak in the knees, hundreds of people raving and Tom and Ed at your house, I don't think Further live is going to be anything like watching the DVD.

And how are there no surprises? From what I can tell from the roundhouse vids, each of the tracks are fairly reworked from their album counterparts. Just look at the last part of Horse Power.

Maybe if they didn't release the visuals and you had to go see them live to witness them would prevent some people from complaining, but I think it's really cool that they came together to make this awesome experience. And then people would be wanting a live dvd again  I think if Ed comes on the board and explicitly says that you don't know what you're talking about indicates that the shows are going to be quite a bit more and you're really not going to get the idea from youtube videos. Of course if you had it your way (judging by the track suggestions thread) the show it would be mostly old stuff, quit living in the past.

Well, if you read my wishlist, you could see that I actually put a lot of tracks from the album.
To be clear, I love Further, and I love the old stuff as well. That's the reason why I wouldn't like those two things to be separated. Further shoudl'nt be isolated from the rest of their discography.
And for example, I'd rather see Escape Velocity live as en epic closer than as a second track. This is my opinion about it, I think EV should close the concerts. That's all. Am I allowed to have an opinion ?
By the same way, I think Horse Power could be better as opener than in middle set.

This is just my opinion damn it. Stop blaming me for having one.

The wonderful thing about having an opinion is that if you're particularly adamant about it and you put it out there it is going to be subjected to other people's opinions (or a "debate"). Attacking the subject of the opinion and the principle of having an opinion are two very different thing, kinda important to differentiate the two so that we avoid sidetracking into the "right to have an opinion" stuff again.

I can't belive this thread is still on going, I read it a few weeks ago and laughed!

Maboul, your a idiot, I doubt you've ever seen the Chems as you clearly talk total shit about the amazing live shows! This album and the tour with it is possibly the best ever! Why did you bother watching it, you cannot judge a whole live show on the dvd. The dvd and album are great, but when you see it live its so much better!

Defined a little more formally, "escape velocity" is the initial speed required to go from an initial point in a gravitational potential field to infinity with a residual velocity of zero, with all speeds and velocities measured with respect to the field

Dude, get some manners and temper.
I've tried to add constructive criticism to this thread, but only received fascist feedback from overprotective members.
Noone is talking 'shit', i'm very pleased with 'Further' and the visuals, but i have been thinking of all the epic possibilities of a mixed set, instead of the full album being played + greatest hits. That kind of a set makes a picture of The Chemical Brothers like an old, near retirement band, something i do not accept.
You don't agree with my or Maboul's opinion, fine, but don't start a flame war over it.

Please note guys that noone is saying that this set is shit or bad, it's excellent, but it could have been much more epic if they tried to do something similar like in the WATN or CWU tours.

Yes that is correct ignorchete I lack manners, I have a temper and I am a facist fan (who has based his opnions on seeing the live show). Once you have seen the show hopefully you will also realise how silly some of the comments are on this thread.

Igorchete I don't think they are able to change anything in the next 5 days so maybe you should lose the expectation and actually try to enjoy the show or you will be disappointed. Who knows, you could be pleasantly surprised! I'm not saying you don't have a right to an opinion I just think you should wait until the end of the gig now to express them as they will be taken more seriously that way. As you can see Ed isn't taking them seriously himself as he knows you haven't seen it yet (although he does seem to be annoyed by them).

Do what you want however, I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just making a suggestion.
its a little early but thanks anyway
