Mind you, they`re not senseless. Second verse should make sense to most of you. It`s about killing a seal and preparing something to eat. When you`re hungry, you usually say "I`d eat a horse"...so what`s the difference between eating a horse and eating a seal? They`re of the same size (well, horse is slightly bigger, I must admit). But meat is not really different.
I love being a vegetarian.
Mind you, I didn't become one for ethical reasons.

Yeah, I ate meat - haven't eaten beef in about 17 years, same with pork. Those meats really never agreed with me and pork made me sick.
I didn't become a vegetarian to be thin, that's for sure, I wish that was the case, I'd be in a bikini right now! ;) I even tried being a vegan (might as well go all the way, right?) but that was really really tough - I love dairy foods. As for chicken and fish - it's really strange but after my son was born I was totally turned off from the idea of eating those things. I've heard of that happening to other women after they've had kids, they lose their desire to eat certain foods, and for me it was meat. I didn't like the texture or taste and it made me feel queasy just putting it in my mouth. Strange but true.
So now I have to be sure to eat lots of tofu and beans and other things that have protein or I run the risk of being anemic. It was also a hard adjustment, especially when at restaurants and cooking two seperate meals at home (my husband and son eat meat.) Other than that - it's not so much a pain anymore especially with the veggie alternatives out there. And as for restaurants, most servers are understanding if I ask them to not serve me anything with meat in it.

Fish and Chicken are extremely healthy foods - essential, depending on your standards.

I used to treat myself to sushi when I had the chance (and money), I loved it. My brother and his wife and I would always go for sushi whenever we visited with each other. I don't miss meat really, but I do miss sushi from time to time. The whole thing about eating it, the way it's prepared, how it looks, all that plus the whole social aspect of eating sushi with friends was pretty cool.
I've thought about trying sushi again - but the times I'd eat it would be very rare, and I'm afraid of it making me sick since it's been over 6 years since I've had sushi.
